What do fellow BB’ers eat for breakfast?

My breakfast is simple.. My dad always asks me what I want to eat for breakfast (most of the time, he just does it because he LIKES to cook, not because I want him to!!) and I normally eat:

-2 scrambled eggs with a dash of cheese on top
        -1 waffle
        -Yogurt
        -Big glass of milk
        -Sometimes green tea

I like to be full until lunch time. I don’t really eat much cereal anymore, because it has a lot of sugar and doesn’t fill me up  I like my protein and yummy milk.

Chai tea latte from Starbucks. It’s hard not to when there are 4 within a mile of your house!

There are about 5 in my city, I think. LOL

We were in California for 5 days and there was not one Starbucks within walking distance from our hotel!! Totally blew my mind. Haha

I usually just have cereal. I’m not into most breakfast foods – all I really seem to want in the morning is carbs. I also don’t have a lot of time and I can eat cereal in a few minutes. I stick to Rice Krispies and Cornflakes for the most part. On the weekends I’ll have some tea too.

I should’ve added that I don’t like breakfast foods, but I have no problem eating in the morning. I’m the weirdo who would rather have a hamburger at 9am than pancakes.

It varies depending on how much time I have in the morning. Usually on work days my breakfast is oatmeal or a muscle milk and fruit. On the weekends I usually have scrambled eggs, bacon, pancakes, fruit, the whole nine yards. I *love* breakfast food

Breakfast and I have difficulties, eggs make me sick and I’m not really in the mood to cook anything that takes more effort than that. Right now it’s just cereal and milk, sometimes yogurt and a little low fat granola, or when I’m splurging a little, an everything bagel with chive and onion cream cheese!

If I eat breakfast at all, it’s Marie Callender’s personal size berry pie browned in the microwave with hot coffee and cream or Banquet’s frozen berry or peach pies (individual serving). I love to hear what you all are having for breakfast!

I have been eating oatmeal lately. I am so weird.. I go in phases. I will eat a bagel thin sandwich (fried or scrambled egg, slice of cheese) for weeks on end. Then I get sick of that, so I will eat an almond flour muffin for weeks on end. For the last 2 weeks it has been old fashioned oatmeal with a dash of cinnamon. I *love* breakfast, especially going out to eat! Oh and coffee… gotta have coffee. But it’s been so darn hot here that I have been doing iced coffee.

I love breakfast food! but with my work schedule I don’t usually have the time to eat it. when I have the time, I love a good omelette with hash browns [not a big fan of toast]. my parent’s restaurant also serves up some mean mexican breakfasts, with boiled pinto beans [no lard]. when I’m working at the office, I usually have a glass of 1/2 orange 1/2 carrot juice and a good handful of unsalted almonds. I don’t get to the office until 10, and my lunch is at noon, so it doesn’t make much sense for me to eat a huge breakfast when I’m going to eat two hours later haha. plus the almonds and the juice give me a nice, clean energy boost!

Always cereal! I love cereal. We usually have like 6 different kinds in the house. I would eat it for all 3 meals if that were healthy. Later in the morning I usually have fruit (shared with the buns of course) and coffee. I try to stick to healthy cereal but sometimes I let myself have sugary stuff like Cinnamon Toast Crunch.

I love most breakfast foods though like pancakes and french toast (vegan…I don’t eat eggs). I love going out for breakfast.

This post inspired me to make a fancy breakfast this weekend! Like I said, I’m not crazy about breakfast foods, but DH is so I like to make a big breakfast for his sake once in a while. I also have some sparkling wine in the basement and I figure a brunch is the perfect way to use it 😉

I was thinking of doing a frittata for the main course – we have tons of wonderful eggs from our friend’s chickens and it’s something that I love to eat as well. I made one with swiss chard, sausage, and feta not too long ago, so I think I’ll use the same basic recipe and change it up. I have a bunch of zucchini, so maybe I’ll throw that in. Any ideas? I do have bacon, so I can throw some of that in or just have it on the side.

Otherwise, I’m stumped. I think we’re out of syrup (the guy who has chickens also makes his own, but we ran out and DH won’t eat any other syrup now). If we can get some more I might do pancakes, but I’m not too excited about them.

Come on breakfast lovers – share your favorites! Especially drink recipes involving sparkling wine 😉

I love pancakes. I totally make them unhealthy though and drown them in syrup.

I used to make a shake before work called “Chunky Monkey”. It’s vegan and lots of protein: 1 banana, 1 cup chocolate soy milk (Silk is my fave brand) and 1 1/2 tbsp cashews (less if you don’t want it too crunchy). Blend well in blender. Now I have to go buy cashews because one of those would be good about now.

I’m not really a breakfast person; generally eating in the morning makes me sick, so I just have a nice cup of Yorkshire tea with milk when I get up. If it’s a school day, though, and I know I have to eat something or I’ll get dizzy later, I’ll have a banana or some toast or an English muffin with my tea. I love English muffins with strawberry jam. P=

I love breakfast. It’s my single favorite meal. If we go out to a restaurant that serves breakfast all day, chances are I will get it for lunch or dinner.

This is pretty much me also.

I often don’t even start thinking about food before a 2nd cup of coffee is gone. Will even reach early afternoon before I realise I haven’t eaten. But when I’m being sensible, I’ll eat oatmeal (porridge), an oat based muesli or vegemite on toast for something quick. Funnily, the thought of porridge makes me feel slightly ill in the mornings but if I move past that and actually make some, I really enjoy it. It also makes me really hungry right after I eat it!

I have on many occasions eaten bad stuff like biscuits (cookies for you in the US) cake or chocolate for breakfast.   Body need sugar STAT.

Also, like Beka, I love a restaurant breakfast and it’s one of the things I recall most from holidays.   Really enjoy that when going away somewhere. When I actually go away somewhere.   My sister and her husbands did a wedding breakfast when they got married. Loved it!

@LPT, is your vegan version of french toast using bananas? Think  I read a recipe like that about a week ago.

@Elrohwen, zucchini works well with eggs. Like a zucchini slice (bit like quiche without pastry, egg pie or frittatas). Just grate up heap of zuchs, put in beaten eggs, cheese, any other savory stuff for flavouring, bit of flour. Bake in a glass or ceramic dish. Easy peasy.

@Lani, “muscle milk”?   Is this like protein powder type drinks?

Jersey, that’s just about what I did! I have made a frittata recipe before that I really liked – it was swiss chard, sausage, and feta – and I just took the base recipe and used it with what I had. I decided to just dice the zucchini instead of grating, and added some mushrooms, garlic, red onion, and fontina cheese. I can’t wait for it to come out of the oven! I’m going to make some yummy bacon too.

Though apparently I’m horrible at making anything with champagne. I tried to make bellinis – I pureed some peach, but it oxidized and turned an awful brown color. Lol. It tastes ok, so I added it to some sparkling wine (prosecco, yummy) and it immediately bubbled over the glass. I’ve tried adding them in different orders and doing different things, but the darn thing bubbles up out of the glass every time. Grr. I’m makin a mess!

Hmmm, milk and champagne sound like a very odd combination!

I did learn that I’m good at mimosas. Somehow the orange juice doesn’t create the volcano effect like the peach puree.

The frittata was delicious too! I’d love to make it for dinner more often, but it’s kind of a pain that it has to cook for 45min and then sit out for 20min. I’m too hungry on a normal week night to wait for that.

Try making the bellinis in a jug first, then pouring into the glass

Lintini- My day is absolutely thrown off if I don’t get chai. Hahahaha! Oddly, both of my rabbits love chai too. I’ve set down my cup (the one with a lid on it!) on the floor only to see little Velvateen licking the sippy hole. LOL. I also used to buy the chai concentrate and had a place for it on a low shelf in my room and Fievel was CHEWING through the box while Velvateen was sitting behind him and licking up the chai from the ground. I couldn’t help but laugh hysterically.

There’s NO Starbucks in my city. That’s right. NONE. The neighboring city (which is like 5 minutes away) has one in the mall and one in the book store. There was actually an article in the newspaper this morning about why the heck there are not more Starbucks here since we are a medium-sized and rapidly growing city.

Now Tim Hortons on the other hand…the saying is “If you want a Tim’s, just drive 2 minutes in any direction.” I think there are more Tim Horton’s locations in Moncton than any other City in Canada. Probably a good thing there are not many Starbuck’s here…I spend a fortune on coffee as it is. But it’s money well-spent.

I can spend my calories on other things T_________T . I even applied at a Starbucks, got interviewed and didn’t get the job. A customer of mine at the place I work now (grocer) told me that the Starbucks I applied at has a lot of drama. Yuck.

I went down to visit my boyfriend in his small college town and there is only ONE starbucks in the city. It is located in a supermarket. The rest of the town has a lot of small business coffee places that do really well in a college town (and are considerably cheaper than Starbucks.

I’m not much of a coffee nut though, I just buy foldgers singles and make single cups when I get a craving. I did get hooked on pinon coffee while in new mexico but sadly I can’t find it here.

So, basically, I eat 2 small dinners a day. I think I just figured out why I gained 10 lbs over the last year.

I don’t drink coffee, but my parents bought a small coffee maker to leave at my house and asked me to get them some coffee at the grocery store. I told them I got something “very New England” so they could really experience the local culture. They looked surprise when I pulled out a bag of Dunkin Donuts coffee, but I told them I was serious. Haha. I swear there’s one every block in Boston.
