Bosse is FINALLY getting a girlfriend. Pre bonding jitters!

Hey everyone. So I’ve been away from the forums for quite a while, life just got in the way. 

Things are pretty much the same, other than we’ve moved into a new apt. We love it here and so does Bosse. Although, he has seemed a bit withdrawn and depressed for a while. We think that he is a bit lonely, even though we gove him lots of attention. Medically theres nothing wrong with him, so we think he is just missing someone to communicate with in his own language. We’ve been looking for that special somebun for almost a year now. And we found this little cutie pie not far from us: 

She is a super social happy-go-lucky bun, which is exactly what Bosse needs. Maybe shell inspire him to be a bit more adventurous 

Im picking her up tuesday afternoon, and here is my plan. I would really like it if someone could come with some input on this!

We live in a small apt, but there are several neutral territories for bonding.
We think we will place her in a pen in one end of the living room. Bosse usually free roams there, but we will just keep him in the bedroom and let him out for playtime in the livingroom. We could remove this little rug we have leading to “her” part of the living room, so he can’t come up to her cage during play time, this is likely a good idea right? Or should I let him come up to her and let them sniff between bars? Obviously supervised at all times.

First I’d let her settle in for a couple hours in her new habitat. Then I would do a short meeting in a neutral environment.
What do you have the best experience with for the first encounter? Slippery tiles? lenoleum (Bosse only walks on rugs usually), or a towel/rug? a box of sorts? We don’t have a bathtub. 
Anyway, I would just go with the flow, if they don’t get along I woul’d stress a bit either on the washing machine, or with the vacuum, and end on a good note. 

I really like the way Tanlover has gone about her bondings, with longer sessions as they get along. 

Any input would be greatly appreciated!

She is ofc spayed, and Bosse is neutered. Forgot to mention.

I have no experience bonding, but my instinct would be to give her more time to adjust first, like at least a day or two. Good luck, and I hope it goes well.

Hi, Svandis, glad to hear from you! What a gorgeous girl!! I can see why you want to go snatch her!

I would definitely give her a few days to settle in with no contact from Bosse. You want to start them off in a small area. Is there anywhere in the house that is neutral? From my experience, slippery floors just stress them out and cause more problems, so I always avoided slippery surfaces.

I’m sure one of our BB bonding pros will be by to give you some tips.

Thanks LittlePuffyTail, and yes she is a beauty.
yes we have quite a few neutral spaces, the bathroom, the hallway, the kitchen (semi neutral maybe, it is connected to the livingroom but he has never been in that area bc of hardwood flooring), and a tiny storage room. I think i will start off in the hallway, it has lenolium flooring and i can lay down a towel.

Should it be just the bunnies at first? When is it ok to introduce food and/or a litterbox?

She has arrived. She is such a social, active bun!! All shes been doing since she arrived is run, eat, play, run, eat and play lol. Shes totally hyper active will start up a seperate bonding thread tomorrow

Congratulations! She definitely is a cutie. Although my Bumpy is the only bun here, I always enjoy reading and learning about everyone’s bonding sessions. You never know when a new bun will enter your life! hehe… even when accidentally on purpose…
