What does everyone do with a bored bunny? My bunny gets bored easily and she has a TON of toys to play with and her set up is even fun. She likes them too but it just does not seem like enough, I’ve used hidey houses, digging boxes, paper tubes, hay and grass mats, toilet paper and paper towel tubes, wicker baskets and toys, wood blocks, human interaction everything! She is pretty happy especially when she gets plenty of play time , after playtime she’ll eat hay and relax ( she has a whole cage that’s only used as a “bunny bedroom” so she has like an extra extra king sized bed lol) plus she has her hutch with another big bed inside too and 3 floors and ramps and a huge “courtyard” out in the open which is pretty much her pen. She has plenty of hiding spot but really the Maine spot is her giant bedroom that’s even the first thing she gards when a cat come into the room. She has a big cat litter box and a big hay bag with plenty of hay everywhere! I think I am  doing everything right. If there’s anything else I can do please let me know. I don’t think she’s like REALLY bored just sometimes she might get bored. Even when I may rarely miss a play session she going around her house and digs and plays with the toys. Anyways if you guys do something better or different that works well for your buns maybe it will work on mine? Who knows😁? Thank you for reading my anoying long thing!

It does sound to me like you are doing everything right! How much space does she get to roam around in, and for how many hours a day? It sounds like she has a lot of space, but just checking!

What makes you think she’s bored? Bunnies spend a lot of their day lounging, with bursts of activity (esp morning and evening). Digging and playing with toys are normal. 🙂

Rotating toys is a good way to keep things interesting. Hiding her pellets in toys (or scattering them around so she has to “forage” for them) is also very enriching.

My bun does play with his toys for most of the day, but at 4 or 5 in the morning I might hear him gnawing on his Oxbow play table. He loves breaking open “treat toys” and I sometimes shake his toys in a bad of freeze-dried banana so he’s more tempted to chew.

@danaNM she gets a lot of space to roam in about 1,000 square feet? Maybe more. She gets out for at least 2 hours a day or more. But usually just 2 hours seems enough because after that she will sleep all day. She is not really bored… Just maybe when she comes out to play? She does do a lot of binkys and zoomies and races, digs and jumps over her tunnel and boxes. I guess shes not really bored but just to be sure I wanted to see if I could do anything else.

@ louiethebunny for some reason Trixie will get lazy and won’t try to get treats.🤔 but she will work for them like to jump and come. But I still will try again😁 thank you guys!

What type of space is she in the other 22 hours per day?  Or is most of the day in the 1000 sq ft space?

2 hours per day is not enough if she is in a much smaller area the rest of the day. But I may be interpreting things wrong so please correct me if that’s the case!

If she is alone and not interacting with you for those 22 hours a day, she is prob lonely. Rabbits are social creatures. It’s true that they do sleep a lot, but they do need interaction as well, esp during morning and evening when they are most active.

She has a play pen with a cage and a hutch plus 3 extra floors I think it is 9ft by 6ft? Not including the extra floors , hutch and cage. She is not alone the rest of the day either. My dad works from home now so he’s always down there and I also go down a lot to check on her. She is usually sleeping or eating hay. Also we go down to clean the cat litter which is in the same room. And the cats visit her too. I don’t think she’s lonely because I do interact with her a lot. During her play time she is never ever alone or not being watched. But then again she is alone at  night for about 9 hours at max. not showing any signs of being lonely though.
