I don’t know if this should be in toys..or..? But here goes!

Ivory has now been a house rabbit for about 2 months, for the first couple of weeks she was always racing around and exploring every inch of the house but I have recently noticed that from about ten in the morning to 6-7 at night she just sits around in the same exact spot. I but tunnels and cardboard boxes in her room for her to play with but she doesn’t seem to be interested. Is this because of boredom or is she just lazy? I’m running out of toys and I’m going to go shopping soon but what until then? She’s still eating, drinking and going the bathroom like normal, so no health issues…Any ideas? It will help me ( and Ivory of course!) a lot!

        Thanks in advance?

That actually sounds like a sleep cycle to me. A rabbit will naturally be more energetic and explorative in a new environment, but once they’re used to it, they settle into their routine.

Wick sleeps from 8AM until 3PM, which is just a two hour shift from what you’re describing. He sleeps on my dresser that entire time and only gets down for a pee break/hay break at like 12PM.

            Thanks for the quick reply!

That’s what I thought at first too, but the only thing is that after she stops laying down she’ll just go eat hay in her litter box and then sleep some more. No running, binkying, playing…

A couple things come to mind:

              1) Health issues. There’s a difference between just a really relaxed, low key day versus a day full of lethargy, which is a lack of will to do things caused be heavy stress, negative emotions (depression) or health reasons. If she’s eating, pooping, and peeing fine, this rules this out most likely.

              2) Digestion. Rabbits like to nap after eating, so if it’s a larger input of hay after the sleep, chilling afterwards to get it through is not unheard of. Wick’s sleep and wake times literally revolve around food.

              3) Owner activity. If you’re typically sitting in one place, not doing much (i.e. watching TV, doing work..), this will reflect onto your rabbit and make them less likely to run around in their own. Rabbits like to be in the presence of those they find security with a lot, so if you find yourself staying in one spot, try going around and cleaning or something. This may stimulate more activity. I actively try to get around with Wick so he stops being a lazy bum pretty consistently. This includes crawling up to him every so often just to be like “hey wassup” or offering my back to see if he wants to climb on for a ride. I also follow him when he goes to another room, just in case it Sparks a nice zoomie session from him.

Thank you so much! Yeah, she seems very healthy is grooming herself, eating etc. It could definitely be digestion and my activity.

I was very happy to see her preforming her beautiful binkys for me today as well as a happy flop She then came and sat on my lap and we were able to have some petting time.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for the quick reply and this info was super helpful

I’m ordering some toys from binky bunny at the moment, so it will be great fun to see what she thinks of them!
