Hi, so I posted this one Reddit but also want some advice or if anyone else ever experienced this with their rabbit.

My rabbit has a booger stuck in his nose. At first, I thought it was a booger that needed to be taken out, so I went with a q tip to gently take it out, but nothing really happened. So then I thought it was a dry booger, as it sort of looked rough, so I put a little bit ciprofloxacin in his nose.

As time went by, I noticed that the booger started to go more inside of his nose and now I can barely see it. He’s sleeping right now so I have no idea how the booger is going more deep inside his nostrils. I will definitely leave it alone now, and monitor it until I can get an appointment with my vet. Did anyone else ever have this happen to their rabbit?

Something could have come loose. I imagine he will eventually work it out. The drops should help.

I’m pretty sure he inhaled it, he still had a little bit left. Do you think this is an emergency?

If it’s a booger, then no. It doesn’t sound like it’s obstructing his breathing.

I can’t tell from the image, but could it possibly be a foxtail? Are there any seed heads on your hay?

Yes, but in person it did not look like a foxtail. He’s had vocal (loud) breathing and sneezing in the past year, but recently it’s been getting louder and more sneezing, so I wonder if something is obstructed. My vet believes it’s the snuffles, but is hesitant to prescribe antiobiotics b/c he’s tried it like twice and it’s hard (on my part) to be consistent since my bun gets fussy about medication.

You could always have the vet try to flush it out.

The end of piece of hay can look like a booger, I know from experience. Eventually the vet pulled it out and it was a think piece of hay.

thanks for the info, my vet said he thinks it’s nothing to worry about… but he still has breathing issues. i might ask the vet to flush his nose.
