        Hi all

Looking at some ways in the future to help fund the rescue.

If you’ve boarded your rabbit somewhere, what did you pay?  …If not, how much would you pay?

(Also did you bring your own cage and food, or did they provide those)

If you’ve paid for bonding services, what did you pay? …What would you pay?

Just tossing some idea’s around with Nanci, and wondering about doing bonding/boarding at our rescue to help fund vet bills in the future

i have not boarded at all, but that’s a great idea. if they could bring their own food and hay, you could maybe do a very low per day cost to help them out.

I just boarded Robbie at The Bunny Bunch, but also called Rabbit Rescue in LA, and they both have the same deal.

$14 a day. Includes hay, timothy pellets, greens, and playtime each day. You don’t have to bring anything but the bun! (In a carrier, of course!)
It’s less per bunny if they’re bonded and share a cage.

It would have been a GREAT deal, in my opinion, if I’d only been gone for a weekend, but being gone 11 days added up! And then I had her groom him to trim all the matted fur off of him (he was still grungy from being in the park) for $10 (groom also includes–check ears, teeth, do nails and anal glands, brush–basically monthly maintenance). And then I caved in to bunny pleading and bought blended hay for $11 to replace the timothy they both despise. Robbie became a very expensive find, without even doing anything!

I don’t know what they charge for bonding, yet. I need to call Bunny Bunch, anyway, because Caroline, who runs it, said that I could take my two in and she would help me make their initial introduction in the neutral territory of the “Burrow,” as their facility is called, and give me pointers. She said she wouldn’t charge for this! If I wanted to drop them off for 10 days, and come back to pick up 2 bonded bunnies, she’d charge. I’ll ask when I talk to her and let you know.

Are you still working on top of all this? And still with your old shelter? I don’t know where you get the energy, but I’m totally impressed!

And you’re on this forum all the time, too… Where’d you get the time-turner? I would like to have one, too, please?!

I think the rescue I got Ember from bonds for free (if you have a bunny and adopt a second at the shelter- I’m not sure if they offer bonding if one of the buns isn’t from the shelter??) I think its kinda a nice gesture to offer for free to get the word out about your shelter and for the word of mouth, etc… (of course if you get bombarded by bonding requests then that wouldn’t work!)

I’ve never boarded my guys before but I would say I would pay in the $10-15 range, more than that and I would probably just use my pet sitter (2 visits/day = $25/day)

Asking for $15-$20 a day will be in the cheap range, IMO (this is in USD). The bonding stuff people tend to do in conjunction with the boarding.

I was researching the boarding thing everywhere lately here are my finds

Local Vets: $10 a day, but no out time and you have to provide food and water and hay.
Indianapolis boarding facilities: $18 dollars a day, you just bring the bun, they provide all else
Pet sitters: $20 dollars a day + $8 for an additional visit later in the day

                      this is in indiana.

Wow. The LA-area is the cheap part of the country for once? Shocking.

Looks like you really need to be asking your friends in Canada…huge variation in price based on locale!

                          Hi, K&K!

Bunny Bunch will let me take Robbie & Lizzy in for supervised “bunny dating” at their facility with Caroline to help interpret/give pointers as many times as I like.

If I give up, and give the two brats…errr, darlings!…to Caronline for 10 days, it’s $300. She only takes one bonding group at a time, and takes them with her EVERYWHERE! They go to the Bunny Bunch “Burrow,” home with her, in separate pens, but for 10 minute bonding sessions at a time throughout the day. Then they ride in the car together. The goal by the end of the 10 days is 2 nights and 3 full days inseparable in the same pen. And she sets up a futon and sleeps next to them. So she gives them the full-time that those of us with full-time non-bunny jobs maybe can’t.

I’m, of course, going to try my darnedest to bond them myself, but wanted to give you the info for your endeavors!

                          Hope this helps!

That’s where I’m seeing we could generate some money!!

Also, we are going to be doing adoption boothes in West Edmonton Mall, and I thought, hey bring the clippers and some cuetips and do ‘nail clipping/anal gland cleaning’ for ten bucks for people who want to bring their bunnies in for it; I think that’s cheaper then most vets to do the nails alone, so that could bring in some money as well.

We had a four hundred dollar vet bill for Pacino’s surgery and with our discount, spay/neuters are 140-200 -adoption fees obviously won’t cover that! We knew/know it will be lots of out of pocket but it’d be nicer to break even! If we generate money we can take in more!!
