I have two male rabbits that are brothers and had lived together since they were born. We separated them when they started to chase each other because we didn’t want it to turn into anything worse. We then got them both fixed at the same time in August and they have been living side by side in separate cages ever since. We tried to have a bonding session in the bathtub a month ago and that went horribly. They immediately started chasing each other and pulling fur. We separated them and neither bunny was hurt. We tried again on the bathroom floor two days ago with a baby gate between them and they were fine. They sniffed each other and went right up to each other with no growling or lunging or anything. After a while I think Oreo ( black bun) even started to accept Puff because he would go and lay right up against the gate next to Puff but Puff never did the same. Puff seemed very nervous.

My question is should I continue doing these sessions and if so for how long or can I take the gate down and see how they interact without it?

Have you done any pre bonding?

The only pre bonding I have done is place the cages right next to each other and also switch around their toys and things with their scent. They don’t show any signs of aggression being right next to each other and Puff often steals hay out of Oreos bin since its right up against his cage where he can reach it through his cage bars.
