My baby girl is 3 months old now and I really want to get her a pal but she is still too young to be fixed! (She is a Holland lop/ Rex mix) I can’t find anyone close to me who sells fixed rabbits but I have found an 8 week old Flemish giant buck. Would they be able to bond since they have not yet reached sexual maturity? I plan to get them fixed as soon as they are of age. Also, I don’t want any accidental pregnancies so how can I tell when they are to the age of being fertile? Thanks guys!

          Hi!

They can get pregnant at 3 months so it’s a no no to House two unfixed buns. As you probably know, it’s bad to House two unfixed buns no matter the sex because their hormones can kick in at any minute and one fight can lead to death. I know you want to jump to bonding but you really need to wait until both are fixed and then start prebodning. Then after a month or so you can do bonding dates. There’s a section in BUNNY INFO all about proper bonding techniques

I agree with Bunny House. At three months, she’s most likely hormonal and territorial already. Housing two unfixed bunnnies together is asking for trouble, especially of the opposite sex. Not only will they mate, they will fight. Your best option is to wait until she’s old enough to be spayed (about 5-6 months), then once she’s spayed, start looking for a male. If you can’t find an older, fixed male, then you’ll need to wait until he is also neutered before you can introduce them.

If you check out the Bonding section in BUNNY INFO, you’ll find some useful information on the steps.
