I have 2 mini lops. Brap (neutered male bunny) is almost 2 years now and we’ve had him since he was a baby. He is extremely energetic, very adventurous and naturally curious. He does not like to be picked up and will fight to the death if you try to. Ellie (spayed female bunny) was adopted from the local shelter and they say she is a year and a half though we think she’s a lot older than they say she is. She’s lets you pick her up no problem. She’s much more fearful as she likes to thump when you reach for her but when you have her in your arms she calms down. She’s much more easy going than Brap.
When we tried to bond them the very first time all Brap wanted to do was hump her. Ellie tolerated it but would come around again to nip him to tell him to bugger off. He wouldn’t. The second time we put them together same thing happened and we decided to split them apart. He would go right back there again to do the same thing. Eventually we just seperated them as Ellie started to get very frustrated to a point she would thump and nip him more often to a point we’re fearful it might make her angry. We haven’t tried since, but we have left out a litter box for the bun’s in our living room and every time we let Brap out by himself he would either pee and poop beside her cage or pee and poop in an area that Ellie usually hangs around a lot.
We don’t know how to stop him. Is this dominant behaviour?
