Hi all! Haven’t been on here in awhile…
Lola is doing well! We moved about a year ago across the country and she has happily settled into her east coast home. (Sidenote: If anyone ever needs some suggestions on how to move a bun in a car for 3,000 miles feel free to message. The answer is lots of Simethicone and willow leaves.)
I do have a question. So – Lola is about three years old now and we really think she is kind of lonely and would do best with another bun. Trust me – it’s not me that wants one (double the food, double the poops)….but she just really seems bored. If anyone remembers – we tried bonding her in the past and it was a DISASTER. She wanted nothing to do with her companion. She was ‘okay’ when she was out of the house and at another person’s house with the other bun but as soon as we brought her back home she just terrorized him even though we did it gradually. We basically had the apartment divided down the center before we had to give the poor foster bun back (who ended up being adopted shortly thereafter
This was about 2 years ago. She still is a very dominant and territorial rabbit. She has never bitten us and will let us in her space (nothing like attacking/lunging/etc) but she definitely demonstrates what she has defined as “her space” with grunts and sharp nose bumps. She will occasionally put her teeth on me but she has never chomped down. Also, she has a stuffed “pig” that is her “best friend” – if ya know what I mean. She LOVES pig. I posted a picture below and you can see how crusty pig is from her excessive licking. So she does groom him! But she also mounts him at least once a day – and there is a lot of humping and “love biting” of pig’s neck involved. And this is an inanimate object – so I’m not sure how a living, breathing bun would handle it even if they were super submissive.
With all that being said. I wanted to know experienced people’s thoughts on what really is in her best interest. I truly feel like she is lonely. She adores my fiance (and tolerates me – the one that feeds her) but I can’t help but think that she could use a companion of her own kind. PLEASE GIVE ME SOME FEEDBACK! I’D BE SO GRATEFUL!
