Hello, this is my first post here.  I am a long time bunny mother.

Recently I lost one of my Holland Lops, Tosha to complications from arthritis and possible stasis.  She was 6yrs old and mother to my male lop Ker-Plunk (KP).  He is alone literally for the first time in his life.  I very much would like to adopt a companion(s) for him soon.

I came across a pair of lop bonded females about 18mo in age, sisters.  I need advice as to whether bonding a fixed older male to younger fixed females is a good idea.  He is independent but was very, very close to his mother.  I can’t imagine what he is going through but I can tell you what I’m going through; it breaks my heart to think he still wonders where she went.  She passed at home by my side in a warm towel an hour before her vet appt.  Somehow I think KP knew it was time; he stayed with her body for a few minutes but then left .

I am single and living alone.  My weekdays can be 10 hours long and starting in Mid January I begin cross-country travel to races on some weekends, sometimes overnight or two.  I do not want him to be alone.

Any advice would be appreciated.  I’ve bonded rabbits before, although this last time required very little worth bc, well, they were bonded from the start.  The two girls i’m interested in remind me alot of Tosha, and I love Holland Lops. Although there isn’t a rabbit breed that I don’t love

        Thanks!

        Jill

I think your biggest challenge would just be the bond of the sisters breaking by entering new territory and having another bun near by. But if you let them settle away from your boy for a month, then prebond for a month or so, then I think it could work. Read Sirius and Luna’s trio thread on how she bonded hers ?
