        Hey everyone,

Funny Story… being a new bunny owner I adopted a girl bunny to bond with my male bunny. Well we made the appointment for her to be spaded this coming Thursday.  Well for what ever reason I thought today I’d check again and I’m pretty sure Molly is not a girl but a boy….lol….guess he/she is having an identity crisis… lol… guess on Thursday we will know for sure.

Anyways, my question is now we are pretty sure we have two boys, how hard is it going to be to bond them together ???…… we are still going ahead and getting "Molly" fixed.  Scamper has already been fixed for a month now.  So, for the past month we have allowed them to vist with each other through the bars of the cage. They don’t show any signs of aggression, Scamper growls once in a blue moon when "Molly" is too close to his litter box but he does that with my boyfriend too…lol..but then next moment scamper is trying to groom "Molly", and sometimes "Molly" grooms Scamper right back.

Anyways, I’ve attached two photos, the first is Molly’s underside… what do you think girl or boy?????… The second is them together laying side by side.

Yes, it looks as if Molly is a male to me. They are gorgeous rabbits.

It’s not impossible to bond 2 males – easier than bonding 2 females. You will just have to take it slowly – it could take 30 days or more for the hormones to actually calm down after the neuter. It does sound like they are currently fine just based on what you’ve said.

One of my friends has bonded a few male rabbits – maybe some was just luck, but it can be done. I’ve done it once and it started out great until one of the rabbits kept getting sick and the bond just wasn’t strong enough at the time to keep them together but I know they would have been fine otherwise.

me too… it looks molly is male… i guess as long as it has a company either a male or female they would still appreciate it because they are so very sociable kind of animals… lol… not so sure about it…

Just to add to my question. We are thinking about getting a Flemish Giant to hopfully allow it to bond with the two rabbits we have now. If we decide to go throw with it, would be be better at this point to get another boy or to get a  girl this time???

              Thanks…

I would say, change Molly’s name to Moe. Definately looks like a boy to me.  Hmm as for bonding three rabbits, I would say get a girl, this way she is more likely to bond with at least one of them, although I am wondering if the two boys will compete over her?

Molly without a doubt has boy parts! You could consider Malcolm, Mallach or such, but some people just keep calling the bunn the same name they’ve always known 😀 It’s pretty common this happens, since it can be hard to properly sex young bunnies. Bonding two boys isn’t the easiest of bonds, but it can be successfully done. It sounds like a good sign that you’re not witnessing a bunch of aggression through the bars though! If you do decide to introduce a third rabbit, I’d recommend a girl for sure. I’d likely try to pick somebunny who is mellow and not aggressive, since dominate personality bunnies often have a tougher time competing over who’s in charge.

That’s some serious bunny porn!  He’s definately all boy, that’s what Leo’s underside looks like as well.

Talking about personalities of bunnies, I have to say we are lucky that way, Scamper and "Molly" have two completely diffent personalities.

Scamper is my wild child.  When he gets in his mind that he is going to do something, he going to do it. He figured out how to move blocks from him getting behind the computer, couch, so we are always coming up with new ways to stop him. Some things work other he figures out….lol….and  jumping on the couch and going poop in front of the rat cage has become a game with him. He knows he not suppose to do that. Scamper has this blue stuffed dog and I think at times he get frustrated with it when it dosn’t show any affection back after he spent time grooming it…lol…

"Molly" more laided back. He like to run around the living room, Chin things he become in contact with and flopping on the floor and just enjoying his time out of the cage. He never gets into any trouble other then missing the litter box once in a while and spraying, but to my understanding getting him fixed well hopefully fix that. Molly would be one of those bunnies I’d leave out all day and night with out any problems other then him missing the litter box.

So I’m hoping when we decided to allow them to play with each other since there personallitys are so differnt that there well be no problems, But of course any sugestions to make it easier on them and us is always welcome.

Well, it’s no secret now that Molly is Boy. Two boys can be more challenging, but it really comes down to dominance and passive. Best scenario would be if  both don’t care about being dominant, or at least one doesn’t care. IF both want to be dominant, and are stubborn about it that’s when things can get sketchy. My best friend just got a male bunny and he bonded with her male bunny in three days. SO ya just never know.

But you can only hope for that, it’s not the norm.   So be sure to introduce them face to face in a neutral territory – and wait a few weeks after surgery. Since your other bunny gets a bit territorial about his litterbox, then don’t bring a litterbox into the bonding sessions.

You also might want to try switching litterboxes so they can get used to each other’s scent. You can also try and switch pens. Have each bunny stay in the other’s pen every other day. NOT TOGETHER.

Oh and as far as names go – you could just take out the M and name him OLLY. I love that name.   Plus if he’s used his name already, it’s not far off.

Well today was the big day and "Molly" is a boy…lol..he must’ve been younger then what we were told when we adopted him. So he is now neutered and in his cage recovering. Just hope everything goes well in the next 24 hours…… I’m sure it will because I have confidence in my vet, plus this is the second time in a month we have gone through this.

As for a name thanks to everyone that suggested things but we are going to call him Olly, just cause it’s close to molly… it’s hard enough he’s already gone through one name change let alone two.  Plus my boyfriend thinks it’s funny to call him Olly Osbourne… lol…

My Connor started out as Canella. Canella means Cinnamon in spanish. He went to the vet a girl and came out a boy. I think he makes a prettier girl because he has the most beautiful mouth, he is still handsome as a man.
