        Hello Everyone!!!

So my bonding of Takoda and Tigerlily seems to be going wonderfully. They minic eachother and groom eachother, I think TigerLily has finally won the battle over who is Dominant because she humped him yesterday and he just sat there and took it and did not try to hump her again.

I have been letting them have together time for about an hour a day and then placing them in eachothers enclosures overnight. ie. him in her cage and she in his.

Well I am leaving to TN next week and I am wondering if it would hurt the bonding if i dont give them together time while I am gone. I do have a pet sitter coming twice a day to check on them and change litter etc… Do you guys think it would be bad if they are just next to eachother but do not have acess to eachother for a week?

Please let me know what you think.

        Thanks a lot everyone!

Well, if they aren’t ‘officially bonded’ (ie. living together 24/7) then I don’t think it would hurt, and you wouldn’t want the petsitter trying to give them time together in case their is an upset or setback. How long are you gone for?

I think you probably don’t have much choice really. I think it would be fine.

yeah, i mean it’s not going to hurt anything. it may set you back a few days worth of bonding, but it’s not like they’re already bonded at this point.

read this article… particularly the sections on “Signs of Progress” and “Taking the Next Step” http://www.rabbitnetwork.org/articles/bond.shtml

every pair is different so what is the “right time” for one pair, might not be right for another…

regardless of where they are right now, i would still wait to “finish up” the bonding and house them together until after you come back.

                  just in case…

it is possible for some aggression to break out and i worry that if no one were in the house, or someone who didn’t know what to do, things could end badly.
