I have a spayed female that I have had for about a year now.  I was interested in possibly adopted another bunny.  I went to the humane society and met a few.  The one I was very interested in, is a boy, and very young.  They told me he might not be able to be neutered yet, because he is so young. First question I have is if sex, or gender play a large part in the bonding?  Should girls be with girls, or a girl be with a boy?  I am not sure.  Also, with the boy not being able to be neutered, will this severely affect the bonding process?  I of course will be getting him neutered when he is ready.  Please let me know.  I am not willing to take the risk of hurting any bunny, so whatever advice you can offer would help much.

        Thanks

The easiest bonds are usually male/female. Two males can be easy too. Two females are typically the hardest, altho they are possible. So knowing this, I would recommend a male for your female. You would need to wait until the male is neutered and healed before beginning bonding. Fortunately, males can be neutered at about 3-4 months, so you would not have to wait very long.

            Hello,
Thanks for your response. I was told the same about the male, female bond. Which is wonderful news. He is actually able to get fixed. He will be ready to bring home friday after his surgery tomorrow. So excited. No bonding for at least a week. Or so I was told. Can’t wait to share how it goes.

Oh good! I would wait at least a couple weeks. Let him heal and get used to his new house.
