We have a 5 month old female bunny who we have not spayed yet but hope to soon, and we’re intrested in adopting a young boy bunny and his mom, both spayed and neutered. We know that most of the time female bunnies don’t always work out well together, so we were wondering if the fact that the other rabbit is a mom makes anything different. Opinions?

You won’t know until you try honestly, but the best thing you can do is read up and plan how you’re going to go through the months of prebonding and then bonding. What spaces can you use, do you have supplies for separate housing for month long periods, etc..

I don’t know if you’re experienced with rabbit bonding, but it’s much more than putting them together and pulling them apart when they have a fit. It’s a lot of work! You can read info about it on the BUNNY INFO section of this website.

Gender doesn’t really matter when it comes to bonding, it’s all down to personality I must mention though that in order to bond, all rabbits involved need to be spayed/neutered so you wouldn’t be able to start bonding til after your little one has been spayed and her hormones have disipated. That would give you plenty of time for the mum and son to settle in though and you can pre bond during the time you’re waiting for hormones to settle.
