Bonding not so well

Hi everyone!

This is my first post on the forum. I am trying hard to bond my one year old bunnies. Aspen (my male) is neutered and has been for a little over 2 months. I have done everything I have read on the forum. I started with the cages close together, and they like each other! The nuzzle through the cage bars, but when I bring them out, Aspen always continuously mounts Puff (my female). I have tried the neutral spaces, and today I even tried a car ride. They snuggled in the car, but when I got them back, they smelled each other for a minute in the neutral territory (kitchen), but they eventually retreated to their own cages, and when I brought them out later Aspen continued mounting her. Puff always just lays down and takes it. They never fight or nip at each other. I just don’t know how to get Aspen to stop mounting her. Any help would be appreciated! I’m just feeling so discouraged and like its going nowhere.

Is your girl spayed? That will be important for a successful bond (among other things).

As for the humping, if both bunnies are spayed/neutered and there is no aggression, then it’s usually best to just let them “hump things out”. Humping is a dominance thing and it is their way of working out who’s who in the relationship. If your girl isn’t spayed though, all the humping will probably trigger false pregnancies, which can be stressful to her.
