Hi, my name is Lindsey.  I really want to bond my two males one is 1 year and the other is 5 months.  They are brothers but different ages adopted from a home that was overrun with rabbits and in over her head.  I found them on craigslist.  I have had them since Julius was 8 months and Napoleon was 7 weeks old.  I want to get them both neutered soon.  Has anyone had any experience bonding two males these ages?  They are both mini lop x american sable at least thats what the parents looked like.

I am also adopting a netherland dwarf rabbit tomorrow named Charmin who is 4 years old from a lady who has to move.  It’s probably impossible to bond three males right?

        This is Napoleon

        And this is Julius

          welcome here! they are PRECIOUS!!!!!!!!!!!

nothing is impossible with bunnies. you can bond same sex pairs, but it is usually a bit harder and it takes more time and patience. they do need to be neutered and healed up for 3-4 weeks before the bonding sessions. a trio might be possible, depending on the personality of the three buns involved, but it would have to wait until the first bond was firmly established (maybe 3-6 months post-bonding). so it’s best to take things one step at a time.

thank you so much for taking on these buns. it sounds like they all really need a good home. if there’s anything else you need help with, please ask.

in the meantime, i’d suggest you read thru this article. it’s a very thorough one on bonding… http://www.rabbitnetwork.org/articles/bond.shtml

Thank you so much. I will definatly look over that article. I have to save up, so the oldest, Charmin will be neutered first and maybe a couple weeks later Julius, then Napoleon. Hopefully I can find a vet that won’t charge me an arm and a leg. I think the vet who did surgery to save my female 2 years ago when she was attacked by a stray dog, would be perfect, the bill she gave me was much less than I expected and the bunny, Houdini, had to have her foot stitched up and 2 toes amputated. Since then she has passed on but that vet was very caring and nice. My boys might be a fairly easy to bond since they live in close proximity to each other and can always see/smell each other.

Oh and with Charmin I found an ad on craigslist. A lady lost her house and must move in with her son who will not tolerate rabbits. He was going to let him go! She is so happy that I am taking him in and even said if in the future I couldn’t keep him and her living arragements were different she would take him back. She questioned me big time too about whether he was going to live inside and if I had other pets or children who might hurt him. She is also very exited that i’m going to attempt to bond him in the future with my other rabbits.
