As many of you know I had been wanting to get Magpie a friend, but because she has a neurological issue she cannot be spayed…Fitz became ill therefore couldn’t become her husbun. (YAY! HE FOUND HIS HOME!)
I hear about a bunny called Sadie with a neurological disorder like Magpie, they say she was announced dead twice in one day as a baby. (Nobody knows why?)
Anyways Sadie is now 100% stable and cleared. She and Magpie met and it was the most amazing thing ever…They literally clicked…they are grooming each other and flopping with each other instantly. At first they weren’t together more than 5 minutes, always supervised. Then we started working up to 10, 20, 45 and now they’re together almost full time. They aren’t alone when I’m not home or when I’m alseep.
So because Magpie has the big hutch I’ve split them up: Sadie on top one day while Magpie has the other two levels, and then swap them. So far Magpie hasn’t grunted, bit, or lunges at all. She’s very calm and relaxed with Sadie and Sadie is too. (Sadie used to live with a buddy but was taken when she was “dead”)
They literally live each other, there’s nothing else to it. I’m hoping to complete the bond by the new year, but I won’t go too fast if they aren’t ready.
