          Hello

Are both the rabbits desexed? What age are they? You really should not put 2 rabbits together if they have not been fixed. If there has been biting, do check them both over very carefully. A bite can lead to an abscess and these can be very difficult to heal.  If it is just biting happening through the bars, you just need to have a gap between the 2 cages. So they can see and smell each other but not be able to reach each other.

In order to bond bunnies they need to be fixed. Even if bunnies are together from the time that they are born (littermate brothers) once they reach sexual maturity they will usually begin to fight. You will either need to save up some money to get them fixed (you could as the vet if they will give you a good deal for getting 2 fixed- some vets will give a % off) or put them in two different areas where they are not seeing/smelling and interacting with one another. Hope you are able to get them fixed because two bonded bunnies is a lot of fun.

The male genitalia is probably becoming erect b/c they are trying to mate. It may appear as if they are fighting and chasing, but this may be how they are coming together to “do the deed”. Are they opposite sexes? If they are, it’s very likely the female will become pregnant, if she is not already.

Please don’t put them together! You are going to have a pregnancy and two injured rabbits. Keep them separate at all times. You really need to contact the House Rabbit Society in Singapore as we have suggested in the past for a local source to help you with your rabbits and to suggest some affordable neutering.

I would immediately separate the cages by at least 4 inches. The suggestion above of separate rooms is a good one. Some here, like BT, had their bunnies reject the bond and ended up tolerating each others’ smell in the home, but otherwise have different play time out, and are housed in two rooms. It works for her.

Please be sure that both are males, and be aware that getting a male fixed can be considerably less expensive that females.

It doesn’t matter they are both male, they are not altered and altering is the first step to bonding.

Also, have you had both rabbits sexed by a vet to ensure that they are sexed properly?

What you meant by sexed properly?

I mean you need to make sure they are both males. How do you know they are?

It is expensive. However, the advantage is that fixing them only has to be done once per rabbit. Getting their various fighting injuries treated will cost you more in the long term. Never put two rabbits together that are not fixed; they will hurt each other badly sooner or later. They can really tear each other up.
