Well I have been working on Bonding Hickory and nilly for almost two months now. There are days where the schedule just doesn’t allow it, but most days they are in the bathroom together. These sessions are getting better with time, and up to an hour or so. (could go longer but only have one bathroom)

I am willing to bet though, that someone could make good money being a “bunny bonder!!!” I am at the point where I see that this may take months and months….sigh….and I will have to get a sitter for them while we are away on weekends in the summer where I was hoping to take them both camping with us.  So, If you are in the upstate NY area…..and you are good at bonding…….CONTACT ME!

They have not groomed each other yet. Nilly once flopped and layed next to Hickory but she is still convinced that if he moves in any way that she is under fire. She will get up to him and eat next to him, but if he moves or looks at her she tries to bite him.  I am just getting frustrated.

It can be hard when a bonding takes a while. You are right, there actually are bonding experts. If you check out our member, Markbun, you’ll see he had a very long post about his bunnies Maryanne and Dono, who seemed hopeless and were successfully bonded by someone in California where they lived. It’s much easier to get good rabbit assistance and instructions in CA. It seems to be ahead of the rest of everyone when it comes to all things bunny.

That said, you can contact your House Rabbit Society to ask if there are any shelters or vets near you that are experienced with bonding. Sometimes just knowing someone who can walk you through the stages in person can help. Your vet may know local resources. If not, read our Bonding section and check out some of the older posts for experienced advice. You can’t add to the older posts, but they are a wealth of information on how to proceed in various “stalled” bonding processes.

thank you Pam for the encouragement!  I have to admit I am beyond frustrated and now I wouldn’t doubt if they are actually playing off my emotions too because I am so nervous. I have been doing this since February and I am at a stand still. You are right, there seems to be nobody in my area that does this, which is frustrating!!!!  If anyone reading this board is from upstate NY, and experienced and good at bonding, please, please contact me!!!!!!
