  Hello, I am new to this forum. I have browsed several posts and didn’t see this one anywhere, but forgive me if I’ve missed something and feel free to link me to helpful threads that already exist.
  
  Our family got 2 baby boy bunnies (Holland Lops) just 9 days ago. Hershey and Marshmallow. They are brothers from a farm, my mother picked them out for a gift to my children. Hershey died overnight last night, so incredibly shocking. My kids are wanting another and we are thinking it is a good idea so Marshmallow isn’t alone. They were so sweet and always cuddly with each other. The farmer has agreed to give us another boy from the same litter.
  
  My question is whether I will need to do anything to bond them or ease Marshmallow into a new sibling joining him after Hershey passed? He doesn’t seem to be acting any different, it just happened last night and we are getting the new bunny this afternoon.

  Babies cannot bond. You are risking a blood bath keeping two unfixed rabbits together, from the same litter or not. If you get another, they need to be completely separated until a month or two after they are both fixed

  So sorry to hear about Hershey What did he die of, do you know?
  
  You can’t bond til at least a month after all involved have been neutered.

  We don’t know. He was just stiff and lifeless when we went to greet them this morning. No indication of illness, no marks/injuries…just gone.
  
  The farmer we got them from didn’t advise us to keep them apart so this is all new to us. They’ve all been kept together at the farm, so why couldn’t we have them together now?

  Simple, the farmer is ok with accidental breeding and possible blood baths from hormonal fighting

  That’s heartbreaking
  
  Bunnies are often kept together in pet shops and things but it’s not the best thing for them once their hormones come about. Maybe the farmer is unaware?
