Bonding babies from different litters

Hi, I am new to the world of Bunnys and so I thought I’d ask some more knowledgable people. I have a little dwarf lop buck. He’s about 8 weeks old and I’ve only had him a week, we want to get him a friend for when we can’t be there to play (like night time when we are sleeping) cause he seems lonely and sad when he’s alone. We are going to look at bunny friends this afternoon who are also only 8 weeks old.

but my question is, is it easier to bond babies?

Will they be freinds quickly or will it take a while still?

I would advise against trying to bond baby bunnies because the relationship rarely survives puberty. Hormones usually cause issues that require the bunnies to be separated and could make bonding them as adults even harder/take longer.

I would suggest waiting until your boy is fully developed and neutered before finding him a friend.

I agree with MD. Babies just love everybody so it’s very difficult to know if they will still get along after they reach maturity. Even siblings will live together just fine and then start fighting once their hormones kick in. At that point, they have to be rebonded as if they were two rabbits meeting for the first time.

My advice is to wait until you little guy is old enough to be neutered. Have him done, wait about a month for his hormones to settle, and then look for a friend for him.

we have decided to wait. None of the bunnys we looked at felt right for us anyway. is it bad to have just the one rabbit?

Many people have just one rabbit. They can be happy but they need lots of love and attention with their people. It’s important to let bunny have lots of free-range time.
