So this post will be in two parts, the first part is describing why I’m considering adding a third rabbit and the second part will be my questions about selection.
I adopted my first rabbit, Reggie, 4 years ago when he was 1. I wasnt able to afford a friend until about a year and a half ago when I got Brownie who was also 4 from the shelter. I took Reggie in for speed dating 3 Saturdays in a row and he and Brownie really hit it off. The reason I’m considering adding a third is to add a new dynamic to their group. Reggie is very dominant and lords over Brownoe most of the time. They aren’t in love love, ot seems like their more like a family unit with reggie being the dominant bun. He can be a little bit of a bully (not physically he never hurts her) and she seems to just do whatever he wants. I would like to adopt a rabbit that would be close with brownie but still submissive enough to let Reggie continue being top bunny. Is this crazy thinking or do you think that would enrich both of their lives? Reggie will be happy as long as hes top bunny and I want to give brownie more of a companion than a dictator.
Now going about finding the perfect bunny. When speed dating a trio do I look for the same things I’d look for when speed dating two bunnies. Do I try both of them seperately then put them together, or do I introduce them each seperately?
Just clarifying, I do have the time/money/space to add a third, I’m considering adding a third bunny for the benefit of the two I already have!
