is it possible? Have any of you done it? Is it harder to get them to bond?

it can be done. they both have to be neutered at least one month before to allow for healing and hormones to decrease. it might be harder to do than a male/female bond, but i believe it is sometimes easier than two females.

If you can find away please let me know.  I have three males and they want to hurt each other.  The one named Zip is so innocent he looks into the cage above him (using steps) just see what is in the other cage and Bubba tries to attack him.  Zip gets down with his little ears back and walks over to me.  He actaully looks sad

Aww, I will definitely let you know if I find a way!

I have another question, would this make either male more likely to spray, having 2 males in the house? or would it basically be the same amount of risk as having a female and male?

are they neutered? there will be a certain level of marking, even with altered buns as a way to mark their territory. this can happen with both sexes. can you tell us a little bit more? are these two buns you have already? or one existing bunny and you are getting a second? if you have the choice, i’d opt to take your first bunny rescuse dating so he can pick out his own mate.

They aren’t two bunnies I already have, I only currently have one but I want to get Dallas a friend to bond with because he keeps bonding with my cats, lol. Dallas is not neutered as of yet, he will be getting neutered later this month or early next month. I would love to take him bunny dating, I think it’s a great idea, except the only rescue closest to us that has rabbits is about 6 hours away, we are driving there on thursday to do a big shopping of food and stuff which we only do this once every 4 months or so. The problem is that while we are shopping for food, he has nowhere to go and I’m definitely not about to leave him out in a car in the wicked Texas heat. I wouldn’t put the two buns in together until they were both neutered, but sine we are going I was debating on bringing home another one. Dallas is 5 months old and I’m guessing the bunny I’d bring home would be around the same age or younger. Being youngsters, would they be more likely to except each other once they were in together?

if that’s the case, i would look for a spayed female. i understand you can’t bring him with you, but you could ask the rescue what spayed females they have that are a little more laid-back as far as personality. this way you don’t have to worry about an accidental pregnancy… and you’ll have a better chance at bonding after he is neutered.

that’s the thing though, there doesn’t seem to be any female spayed rabbits in west texas, it is truly the most ridiculous thing I have ever seen. That is why I was wondering about 2 boys, because I don’t think I can actually find a female, lol. I would love to have a female, I have a special spot for females because we had a female sweetheart of a bun when I was young.

Two boys can bond. On the average, it is a little more difficult but if you take your bun on some ‘bunny dates’ with the other boys, you can maybe find one that is a little more suited for your bun than others.

she did say in the third post that she can’t take her existing bunny, so it will be a bunny she picks out herself, without the benefit of dating.

We’re bonding 2 males right now, and it’s going very smoothly. However, we did get to take ours in for a bunny play-date, where one started grooming the other almost right away. It’s a shame that isn’t an option for you.
