Hello, everyone!
I have a pair of bonded rabbits–bonded for about 6 months–and they have had an extremely tranquil relationship. Both of them are very low key, affectionate bunnies (5 years+
) who just like to groom, loaf, flop, eat, and snuggle, with occasional petting by me.
When they were first bonding, the male (Vadim, a mini lop) humped the female (Chubby, a lionhead who isn’t overweight) only 2 or 3 times total. I think Chubby humped him a couple times, too, and I hadn’t seen them do it since, in 6 months.
Now, all of a sudden, my female is trying to hump the male at least 30-40 times a day! I mean, just CONSTANTLY humping him, face and butt. She’s never done anything like this before. He’s not humping her back, and he’s such a good boy that he is never aggressive with her–he just lazily tries to escape, and then eventually gives in. But whereas it used to be just about 10-12 times a day, now it seems like Vadim can’t even stop to eat or rest at all, because Chubby is climbing all over him. I’m afraid it might be putting Vadim under a lot of stress. They still groom each other during the rare times she isn’t trying to mount him, but I worry it might damage their relationship.
What should I do??!
