My bunnies have been fully bonded for a few months now sharing the same living space and free roam area and I must say I feel very lucky because they are like madly in love newly wed couple!

However I bought a nice fluffy rug today for my hardwood floor partly so the bunnies have something nice to walk on, they both seem estatic with it flopping and playing on it all afternoon and suddenly my subordinate female Maggie trys to hump Glenn, he’s bigger than her and really wasn’t having any of it, a little bit if circling happened but in-between there is lots of ear grooms being given by both buns. Things settle and Glenn will lay on the rug for a while till Maggie trys to catch him off guard and hump again and he will then try to re establish dominance, still flopping next to her and grooming. Maggie is also nearly binkying and leaping about when doing this? This has been going on, on and for for about 20 minutes now.

Nothing seems aggressive yet but is this something I should be concerned about? Or common practice for bonded rabbits when a new ‘toy’ comes along?

They spent 3 weeks visiting my parents at their house over the summer in a new room and environment and didn’t have a single issue, suddly I get a little rug (at their normal house) and it’s a game changer

          UPDATE:
This ended up going in for about 2 hours and only when they were on the rug, I put them back together overnight and they seem fine again now sharing their morning food!

Would still be good to know if this is normal behaviour for two bonded bunnies, I know occasional mounting is a norm but is this session of circling and humping the norm for rabbit pairs occasionally?
