Hi we just got some bok choy and I was wondering if it is safe to feed Fern the whole thing, the leafy stuff and the crunchy stuff as well as the core.

Does bok choy give gas? Does it have high calcium?

Bok Choy is ok, ine love it. If its not baby bok choy, I usually cut the stem off because mine refuse to eat it but I’m sure there’s no prob with it.

Yeppers it is A-O.K.!   My two LOVE it, but just be sure your rabbits have a tolerance for it frist by giving them a small piece and see if it causes any gas or diarrhea.

Here is a list of the calcium content of certain veggies for your reference :

              Thanks,
I gave Fern some bok choy and she was a little picky about it at first, but it was gone the next day so…. She has had no ill effects from it so far, does it normally cause gas? How can you tell if your bunny has gas.

With mine, while resting, she’ll keep shifting position as if to get comfortable. She’ll also let me massage her belly whereas normally she wouldn’t. Sometimes they’ll hunch up and hide away but you have too be vigilant for beginnings of GI stasis if that’s the case.

As jerseygirl said, strange sitting/hunching/flopping is a sure sign of stomach/intestinal problems. Refusal to eat, even a desirable treat is also a symptom of it.
