        Hey all

This nice man I work with sent me pics of the rabbit who lives outside our shop! Apparently he/she’s been named boingster!

Those pictures aren’t all of the same rabbit are they? The ones in the snow look like a white rabbit, the others look grey.

Actually, it looks like the same rabbit. Some rabbits lose their summer coats and take on the white for winter. I even saw an experiment once where they took a white snow bunny and put a small, circular heating pad on its back for two weeks and only the area covered by the heating pad turned back to brown.

Wow, I didn’t know that they could change color that much! I know they shed their summer coats and grow a winter coat but I didn’t realize that they completely change colors.

Yeah, the color changing thing has been bred out of all domestic breeds (AFAIK) because people didn’t want them changing color with the seasons.  Although I think it would have been neat, breeders like uniformity and you can’t have that with a color-switching bunny.

They all do that around here…This guy, was white looong before the snow came, so it was sort of funny… The snow was pretty late this year, I think he was about a month ahead!
