Since the search feature isnt working on the forum for me I had to post

My Nala just got spayed today around 7 hours ago. Im worried because she still wont eat a thing or drink at all. How long did your bunnies take to get out of their groggy mood? She has just been sleeping all day since she got home ( not deep sleep cause she keeps adjusting positions every 10 min) I want to just let her get the rest she needs but she hasnt eaten or drinkin anything since 7am this morning  ( now 9:25pm) I also saw a little bit of pink/red in her urine. Is this serious or is that normal cause of the surgery? She wont even eat her favorite snacks!

It took my girls til the next day to bounce back enough to eat something. It does take longer with girls than with boys. Did you get pain meds for her? That may help. Keep an eye on her incision, and if you are concerned about anything, call your vet in the morning to ask questions, and to see if she needs to go in again for anything.

It took my bunny Lago a day to eat on her own. I was worried, so I syringe fed her some critical care. I’m not really sure about the urine though. As Monkeybun said, it would probably be good to call the vet and ask.

Otto was kept overnight at the vet (their standard procedure) and he wasn’t eating well until noon the next day – and that was for a neuter.

I didn’t have Hannah when she was spayed, but her old owner told me she didn’t eat for three days and had to be forced fed. After getting her molars clipped (which i didn’t think was a big deal) she also didn’t eat for three days, so some bunnies are very sensitive to stuff like that. If it goes 24 hours I would definitely start with the Critical Care. You can take her back to the vet, but there’s not much they’ll do beyond that.

Also, red bunny urine is common and has to do with vitamins and minerals they’ve eaten. If it has blood it in you’ll see the blood spots very clearly, separate from the urine. This could be blood in the urine, or it could be that her surgery site is bleeding a bit – you might want to call the vet and ask. If it’s just an all over reddish-orange color, I think it’s probably normal.

Females take a good three days to get back to somewhat normal. Probably she won’t eat the night of the surgery – depends too on what time they did the procedure and she’s going to be very drugged up from pain meds and the anesthesia.

I definitely recommend that you get pain meds if you don’t have them and start handfeeding her critical care.

As for the urine, if it’s bloody then I would ask the vet if it’s just reddish orange then that’s can be normal due to medication or many other factors.

Vibes to your Nala – please keep us updated.

When she pees in her litter i can see the dark spot where she went and then there is just a little spot where its pink. She is still just laying down and isnt interested in eating :/ She ate about half a teaspoon of mushy banana+orange this morning. Im afraid to give her the pain medication because it instructs me to give it to her with food and that it can make her nauseous. If I were to give it to her now, what if it makes her appitite worse because she has nothing in her stomach ? going to call the vet when they open in 30 min. I have no idea where to find critical care >< Petco doesnt have it.

Yes, call the vet. What is the pain medication called? Your vet should also carry critical care.

Smokey took almost 12-18 hours before she would drink some water I put in front of her. It took her about 20-24 hours before she ate the food I gave her. It was a very scary and nervewrecking time for me because she looked like she was in so much pain ;(
