Hello, I’m really scared so I just made an account to post this. Sorry if this isn’t the right place. All the vets are closed otherwise I would take her right now, but I have to wait until morning. My female rabbit, Lily, is spayed and 8 years old. She has existing health problems. She can’t pee on her own. We had her x-rayed and checked and every other thing possible, but the multiple vets we took her too couldn’t find out what the problem was. Since she was acting happy and normal (eating fine and pooping fine), we decided to just gently squeeze her bladder over a litter box three times a day. This was over a year ago and it’s now a routine. She’s a very happy bunny and likes to run around and jump and play. Tonight when I went to relieve her I noticed blood stains in her cage and I picked her up and her anus was bloody. Her poop is normal looking but covered in blood, but she’s eating fine and acting normal. I don’t see any exterior wounds or anything weird looking about her butt so I don’t know what’s wrong. There aren’t any rabbit specialists nearby at all (we live in a rural area), but the vet we are hopefully seeing tomorrow has experience with rabbits. Does anyone have any experience with this? I’ve had her since elementary school and I’m in college now. I love her so much and I’m very worried.

Red blood around the anus indicated that the probem lies somewhere rather close to the anus. If there is a bleed higher up in the GI canal, the blood that comes out will not be red and liquid, but black (or at least very dark brown), and sticky, resembling tar.</p>
This could be a polyp (most common cause), or a hemorrhoid or a papilloma located near the anal opening. Here is an article about this from The House Rabbit Society (trusted source):

I know we have a member who had a polyp surgically removed from her bun’s anus. This may not be possible for you now, if all vets are closed due to covid?
