I’ve found out that the local humane Society does rabbit neuters at a rate of about 5 or 6 a week…

My question is…is it neccessary to have bloodwork done prior to the surgery? They don’t even require an EXAM, but I am taking Scooter (mine… not yours Annette ) in for a well check and to discuss having him done there;Am I making an error in judgement??

I would if it was an older rabbit or somehow the rabbit’s health was compromised in some way otherwise I’ve rarely done bloodwork for my spays and neuters – it really has varied for me from rabbit to rabbit though.

Is it possible they do an exam before the procedure? It would be good anyway for you to take Scooter in for an exam and meet the vet before he does surgery on him.

            Thanks Sarita…

No, Scooter is 18 months old and has never had any health issues,(knock wood) so we’ve been blessed there. I just get nervous when I’ve heard about anesthesia complications and I KNOW more buns come out fine than those that have issues but you know what I mean…

            Thanks again!
