So – I’m sure you all can guess from the subject… but I was feeling ambitious and decided to really clean out the litter box tonight. So I hauled it to the bathtub and rinsed it out and scrubbed it with some bleach, but that didn’t do a great job getting rid of the pee stains. So I rinsed all the bleach out and sprayed in some vinegar. Then in all my brilliance started looking around for something to scrub with. The inner dialogue went along the lines of “oh, what’s this scrubbing sponge in this sink? I think it will work splendidly. Wow, this vinegar works brilliantly…wait…what’s that horrible smell?…I’ll just turn the fan on, I’m sure it will be fine, there’s just a bit more to go…wait…this was the bleach sponge, is that bad?” And the smell got really bad and my asthmatic lungs started to scream at me. So I scrubbed frantically and rinsed and rinsed and rinsed. I opened the balcony window and am waiting for my stomach to stop feeling disgusting. That’ll teach me to be ambitious!
So I didn’t actually know that bleach and vinegar were a bad mix to start, but I have since learned my lesson. The buns are acting normal, so I guess it wasn’t so bad in the living room where they were, although Wally was bouncing back and forth wondering what I was doing to his litter box and when he could have it back. He’s now sitting in it eating hay looking unconcerned.
Needless to say, the litterbox is sparkling clean now!
