  Hi everyone,
  
  this is my first time posting in a number of years. I had a pair of rabbits long ago, so when my daughter expressed getting a bunny I was all for it. We have had her several months now and things were going great until recently. (For the record she is 1yr and spayed)
  
  So…a week or two ago. I was cleaning out her pen and she bit me. Hard. It really startled me and when I jumped I whacked her with the dust broom I was using. Since then she has bitten me several times. But the worst was today. I had never had a problem picking her up, I don’t do it often. Just if she needs to be moved. Today was nice so we set up an outdoor pen. When I went to pick her up to take her out she bit me. I walked away and let her cool down, before attempting again. She spent some time outside and really enjoyed it, but when I stepped into the pen to bring her back in she growled and lunged at me twice. I had to throw a towel over her to pick her up and bring her back in.
  
  i am the only one she is doing the too. I’m also the one whoe feeds and cares fr her. I know I’m to blame for this, she thinks I hit her. But how do I make her trust me again?

  It sounds like she may be ill and that could be making her uncomfortable. A sudden change in temperament with no logical explanation should be addressed with your vet. When was her last exam?

  Well whacking her with a broom is not going to help and I see that you’ve realized that :~) It does hurt though and I can understand why you were startled.
  
  I agree that it’s always best to rule out any medical problems and determine if she is ill. If she is not ill, it’s not at all unusual for rabbits even altered ones to be territorial. I guess what I would recommend to re-establish some trust with her is to try to clean her pen when she is out playing or let her out to play when you want to clean her pen – it may be that she just doesn’t want you messing with her space. And really 1 year old is still pretty young – my rabbits are much older and they are fine with me cleaning their space while they are in it which I think is just due to aging.
