I have had my baby dwarf rabbit for 3 days now and he is doing really good. He has  come out of his shell and as soon as i open his door he comes running out and hops up on my lap. He was so good over the last couple of days but now he has taken a shine to biting my clothes as soon as he comes out and it really hurts me. He also nibbles my arms and chin but this is only very lightly and i dont mind. is there anything i can do about the other biting? is it too soon to use a squirty bottle ? he is only getting used to me and i dont want him associating the water with me !

Make a loud squealing sound when he does that.

he’s a little guy, and they learn about their environment using their mouths (think about how small human babies put everything in their mouths.) some rabbits really like chewing fabric. it’s not a big deal if you don’t mind holes and they don’t eat the fibers, except sometimes they bite a bit too deeply, and yes, a loud shriek can let them know it’s not acceptable. i woldn’t do the water bottle thing just yet. that’s more useful for correcting behavior from a bit further away, like across the room.

you can expect some interesting behavior over the first year. it will sometimes decrease after neutering, but he may be a bit of a rebel the whole time. hormones do a funny thing to bunnies. most importantly, enjoy him. you’re going to learn a lot from him, i can tell!

and have you posted pics yet? please do… we love the bun pics!

Beka is right on w/ the explanation & Sarita w/ the suggestion.  Also consider that most animals need to explore, but do so in a safe manner, this is when exploring w/ your mouth comes in real handy.  If the baby bunny feels vulnerable, they got their nip in and can escape safely.  Animals are so clever…I don’t think that human adults can get away w/ the same!
