Welcome to an exciting installment of the Binky Bunny Support Group… Tips and Tricks for Ultimate Weight Loss!

Many of us have over 40 pounds to lose, and this can seem daunting. However, by altering ones’ diet and exercising to the best of our abilities we should be able to do it!

This is a thread where you can add any tips or tricks that you have found work well…

*Note: Healthy tips and tricks; nothing like “Only eat 800 calories per day” – which is something I did in 2004/05 to lose an immense amount of weight, and while it worked well, it was borderline anorexic behaviour so no tips like that!

        My contribution:

        * Cut out ALL white starchy products; these include white pasta, white rice, potatoes, basically anything “white” and starchy. These go straight to your fat storage, they don’t get processed!

        * Drink water when you’re hungry; often we think we’re hungry when we’re actually thirsty!

        * NO EATING AFTER SUPPER!!! My Curves’ nutritionist slammed this one into my head! She said the first thing a nutritionist will say to someone who wants to gain weight is eat at night! No food after 7 pm!

cool thread!  i’ll ditto lion_lop’s tips.  i’ve got an arsenal of tips / tricks so perhaps if i share them here it will motivate me to actually follow them too

          • eat some protein with each meal or snack
          • eat frequently (not extra, but spread out calories) to maintain blood sugar levels.  altho i’ve heard this in many places & believe the ‘science’ behind it, this is a tricky one for me because i tend to end up over-eating.
          • lunch / dinner plate: 1/4 protein, 1/4 starch, 1/2 veg
          • emotional eaters: work on finding at least one (tho the more the merrier) ‘reward’ activity or treat that is not food related that you really enjoy & can feel good about subbing into where you might normally snack. (so far i’ve got: petting my aminals, napping, listening to music, sipping herbal tea)
          • emotional eaters: gain some leverage against the ‘pleasure’ / comfort of eating by listing / acknolwedging the ‘pain’ of not loosing weight.  for example, if eating gives you comfort (in my european family who escaped & immigrated to canada after ww2, food = safety & love) then find an association where food = neglect (if i don’t maintain healthy weight i’m at risk for diabetes…) to leverage against the pleasure of eating.
          • remember to celebrate wins… not just weight loss on the scale.

Yikes. The no eating after supper is a good tip, but what if supper is at 10 PM?  I’m usually in class from 6pm-8:45pm Monday – Thursday.  By the time I get home it’s 9:3o.  There’s got to be something I can do.

I know I’ve heard of good tips before, but right now nothing comes to mind.  I”ll think of one and add it later.

yeah sometimes your schedule must prevail over the ‘good tips’.  like i’ve heard that exercising first thng in the morning is best, but i am just not a morning person AT all.  ahh well… i think incorporating what you can and being sensible will get you further than trying to make awkward adjustments anyways.  you’ll be more likely to maintain your habits.

Eat breakfast! Something whole grain that stays with you till lunch. I cannot stand food first thing in the morning, I have to be up and moving for awhile but I make myself eat. I bring a peanut butter sandwich on whole grain bread to work. Between the grain and protein, it really keeps me from hitting the bagels and donuts laying around. Cold cereal just makes me more hungry for some reason.

Squatting to pick up bunny poos and cleaning the cages are great for your thighs….(but hard on the knees)
