        *jumps for joy*

The kids finally started grooming each other!  (well, Banner is grooming and Merry tried one kiss or two)  This has been a tough ride.  I was going to bed bond them again but Banner wouldn’t let me pick him up.  Lo and behold, I saw the box I had just received from BB.  I was able to coax him into the box to carry to the bed – and then I noticed it would be the perfect size for TWO bunnies so I put Merry in there.

There was some chasing and Banner’s inelegant demands for grooming but finally he just flopped down next to her and they started cleaning themselves.  Eventually Banner gave in and tried to “teach” Merry what grooming meant (I really do think she’s never had this sort of contact with another bunny before).  Merry now has the cleanest ears this side of the Mississippi!   Eventually the two of them just fell asleep next to each other in the box.  Hurrah!  And Banner has now miraculously learned to be gentle when asking for kisses.

I branched out to letting them both run around the living room, and although they did still chase each other, it wasn’t malicious and they didn’t turn on each other or cower in fear.  It was more like Merry finally accepted that the little whippersnapper baby Banner was just going to be energetic and try to chase her so she may as well give in and play (she needs to lose weight so it’s perfect).

I think we’ve had a breakthrough!  I do admit that I cried a wee bit when Banner finally started the grooming lol

        Thanks BB!!!!!!!!!!!!!

HAHA! That’s great to hear. And boy do I understand getting emotional when they make positive progress as the whole thing can be so stressful at times.

Sorry for semi-necroing this thread but one of the reasons that a box can help is that it is a brand new ‘room’ to them – four walls and a floor that they have never seen before nor have their scents in. It suddenly becomes “neutral space” and territorial issues can lessen or disappear.

Update (sorry I haven’t been around much lately)
The kids are bonded! Banner’s no “husbun” – he’s definitely the bratty little brother. But they’re living together peacefully in the same xpen (I combined both their pens into one huge one). I even caught stubborn little Merry doing some grooming, and then flopping next to the already flopped Banner.

                      So, SUCCESS! Hurray!!!!

Now if it would only cool down so that I can let them out to run around the living room (a/c broke out there and the landlord replaced it with one that doesn’t even come close to cooling the huge room down. :/)
