Wow. I’m posting lots of ‘Binkles’ Memorial -blank-‘s lately…can you blame me?
It-it’s done. I did it. I created my memorial video for my sweet Baby.
It was hard deciding on a song for this. My immediate inclination was to use ‘Bright Eyes’…but I wanted a song that would show how much I miss her without overshadowing the REAL focus: the wonderful relationship I had with her.
The more I thought about it, the more and more apparent this song made itself to me. It touches on the wonderful, amazing time I had with her perfectly
A little technical background on the video; there are actually two versions of this song -a male version and a female version. The male version, I feel, is more well-sung, but is short, and the female version misses some key musical aspects of the male version but has some meaningful (and fitting) lyrics that the male version lacks.
So, yes, I transposed the female version down two notes, merged the two versions together using mainly the original male voice, and viola! It was no easy task, I assure you.
Oh yeah. And +10 extra points on your ‘Sarah thinks you’re awesome!’ status if you know where this song is from.
You can view it on either Veoh or YouTube, but the Veoh one is much higher quality and you can read text that you can’t on the Youtube one. Either way, get ready to reinforce your levvies, because it’s a real tear-jerker…at least it is for me.

That song…I first heard it when I was..I must have been 10 back then. Back then, I was so young, I thought it was sad enough, but I couldn’t fully appreciate it. But it popped into my head…that morning. And ran through my head all that day…and when we buried her…the song is just too appropriate. T-T Thank you for all your kind words, everyone…this video has really helped me accept that…well…it’s time to say goodbye. I did spend a lot of time on it…a lot of love and heartache as well. I’m glad everyone likes it.
There’s no way I could ever do my baby justice in a 4 minute song…heck, I couldn’t do her justice in a 4 million minute song. But I hope that, for what it’s worth, I’ve exploited it to its uttermost capabilities.

Yes, ‘Bright Eyes’ is a beautiful song -and it’s the first song that flooded into my mind that morning. I love that song…in a REALLY bitter-sweet kind of way. But…it’s so mournful. SO mournful. In fact, it actually makes me cry more than ‘The Time Has Come’ -because it focuses almost solely on the tragedy in death. Don’t get me wrong, ‘Bright Eyes’ certainly has a time and a place. I know that it has sure had a dominant place in my mind for the past few weeks. But this video…I wanted it to focus on how sad I am that Binkles had to leave so soon, yes, but I also wanted a BIG part of it to show how special a bunny she was -how meaningful a relationship we had…in other terms, I wanted it to be a Tribute to Binkles -not just a sentiment of her passing.
Of course, the SUPER strange thing is, a few days after she died, I was at the grocery checkout counter when the blonde-haired bagging boy came up OUT OF THE BLUE and asked me, “Oh hey, do you by any chance like Simon and Garfunkel?” I nearly burst into tears on-site.
Anyway.

Unfortunately, I think something went wrong in the upload processes. I just watched the uploaded versions today, and realized that on all three videos, the music and videos begin to un-sync a little after about the middle of the song. :/ So not everything is quite as on-time as it is on my computer…I’m half tempted to fix it and re-upload them all…AGAIN. But I’m not sure I want to switch up the links any more. I’m very fortunate to have some awesome artistic programs at my disposal. But even so, it was HARD to edit those two songs together to get them to sound smooth. =x If you’ve listened to both versions of the song, you’ll know what I mean. It almost kind of sounds impossible. But luckily the timing and pitch of the (transposed) voice(s) were just close enough to be able to pull it off with some work. I’m sure that I’ll have people all over me for the song soon if the video gets out, because reading comments on the other two versions, people seem to have the same beef with it that I do -male has an AWESOME voice and just generally pulls it off better, but female has some meaningful verses that the male lacks…that plus the fact that the complete, un-edited male version seems not to exist except for in that clip in the anime -and thus, it has voice overs over the beginning and end. =/Trust me, I’ve SCOURED the net: there is no raw male version.
(Which, by the way, if anyone wants the mp3 of my version, I’d be happy to send it to you.
) Mimz, your kids got you into Pokemon; I LOVE it. xD Back in the day, I was THE Pokemaniac. Oh, yes. I have ALL the cards. (Which, of course, are all worth $5 :3 But hey, I like the art!) I was part of the ‘Pokemon League’ at Books-A-Million. I taped every show that came on Saturday morning, and was always the FIRST to be in line for new games. I nearly shat a brick when I first saw the preview for ‘The First Movie’. I dropped out of the scene for a while after Gold and Silver -I had to take a time out to go through my ‘cool kid’ phase. =x But then when I heard about the introduction of wifi to Diamond and Pearl, I HAD to try it out and…I was a gonner again. xD It had always been my dream as a little girl to be able to battle trainers from all over the world. And MAN is it fun!
T_T Then my DS got stolen. Pah.

Geez, that’s one of my biggest fears…I work so hard on my Pokedex, and BAM! Someone will lift the whole thing with all my great Pokes in it! >.<
I had a hard enough time dealing with the battery issue in GSC. I lost hours of work in those games and some of my first Pokemon. They were like, well, friends.
I’m sorry to hear about that. I also love the idea of Wifi, but I can’t get it out here where I live. I’d have to go into town and, well, that’s more gas than I want to spend for.
I love the cards too, as long as the art is good. I have boxes of them. Boxes. And figures. And plushies. And manga and movies…. (yah, I’m hopeless)My son is trying to become a game designer. I told him, when he makes it big, he needs to make a virtual reality Pokemon…so that I can stand next to my little pocket monsters and feel like I’m right there in the stadium with them. ^_^ Sadly, I don’t think I’ll live to see that kind of AI gaming technology.
I would love an mp3 of the version you put together. I downloaded the whole video from zshare (about 2 hrs on dial-up but worth every second) and it’s in my collection of touching moments on my hard drive. You are not the only one who will never forget Binkles, my dear. She has made quite the impression on me too.
