One of the answers here suggest that binkies are a sign of stress and not something you want your rabbit to do. Can someone read this and give me some feedback. That threw me for a  loop!

I think thats the problem with yahoo.answers. it can be great for getting reviews on products or I don’t know answer to the question “Do you think I look fat in this picture?” … I see alot of those. But for questions like this anyone and everyone can answer and it just goes to show that alot of people think they know what they’re talking about when they clearly don’t. If you read one of the bottom answers the responder tells the person she is feeding her rabbit the wrong food. That hay will make it fat and it should be eating straw and a SEED mixture

As far as I can tell, the Binkie was decided that it was a sign of happiness as well cared for buns seem to binkie a lot more than those that are scared or stressed.  Just as we know the wagging tail of the dog or the purr of a cat, the binkie seems to happen when the rabbit is free and happy.

A stressed rabbit would be one that has it’s ears back and wouldn’t be moving as it would want to remain as still and low profiled as possible to avoid predators from seeing it.

If you notice, the people who are giving advice are breeders who are more insterested in the perfect looking bun than in its happiness and socialibility.

Personally, I feel a binkie is because they just get a breeze on their bum.  Seriously.  My buns seem to binkie a lot more where there are drafts (next to the front door, by the window that has my air conditioner in it.

i have never seen a rabbit binky who was scared or whatever, wild rabbits are caught binkying in fields all the time, maybe one of us should email her to tell her ? if she is giving out these info people may change the way they look after their bunny when really they are giving the right idea. I posted an answer to the Q anyway

I think by just watching the bunny is proof enough that binkies are a sign of happiness. When my rabbits are out and they are stressed they stomp.

It looks like a few people from here have already put their 2 cents in on that thread.

Just goes to show how lucky we are to have such great information – here and the HRS – to share with each other. Don’t know what I would do with out!

BTW – I go to my local shelter twice a month just to take bunny’s to the outside runs so they can play, get fresh air and run around – they spend almost the whole time binking!!!

OK I KNOW KNOW KNOW binkies are a sign of happiness. My rabbit is NOT stressed when he is doing zooms all over my house licking me n between. That woman is so comopletely off. I saw my binky bunny clan straighten that one out! Awesome guys! Now send my new girl Lila binky vibes. She is too shy to even roam. She just sits there when I take her out.

I think maybe the breeder is used to having them in outdoor hutches with no excercise.

It’s not rocket science. They are agile creatures with powerful legs. It probably feels great to get out and stretch those thumpers with some good jumps, dashes, and twists. From my observations, my buns only binky or dash when they’re content and feeling safe and secure.

Ooh!  I’m surprised our horse people here didn’t chime in.  Another ‘prey’ animal that loves to run is the horse.  And happy horses also ‘binkie’ so you can make the corrolation that way too.

Breeder/Shower, yet she feeds rabbits rose petals from the florist, that are laced with preservatives and insecticides? I guess she only expects her rabbits to only live a year or two before she dumps them on a “pet home”, so what difference does it make. I also enjoy that her post is basically one long stream of words with no capital letters and no punctuation and it goes on and on and OMG how can she expect me to read it it hurts my eyes and then I want to break the computer and …. Well, you catch my drift.
