I was putting groceries away and he was out when he made a stack of three soda boxes fall! I couldn’t tell if he got hit on the process. He ran away just fine and ran away from me when I tried to see if he was okay and he was moving perfectly normal. This morning I noticed him in his litterbox having what appeared to be hiccups (with the way his body was moving), but when I went to get closer, it stopped. And tonight I was petting his and he was tooth purring and in the middle of his pets there was a loud crunch, but just one… I can’t tell if he is in pain or just mad at me… Right now he is hopping everywhere and exploring and running, like normal. I just wish he could speak so I knew that he was okay and that he still loved me.

If he’s running and hopping most likely he’s fine. Is he eating? A bunny in pain is usually reluctant to eat. Did he land on his feet? I had a similar scare not long ago, I had the couch pulled away from the wall a bit and forgot to put it back, Stormy jumped on the back of the couch and fell right off the back but just landed on his feet. I felt awful, but he was fine.

I’m not sure if bunnie’s hiccup but I’ve noticed my buns doing something similar, just a few hiccup type motions and then it stops. It would be interesting to find out.

When he tooth purs is it a gentle, soft, noise or a loud, grinding sound?

His tooth purrs are normally soft and gentle, kinda sounds like someone when they smack their food. But just out of know where one loud grinding noise came out. I didn’t see the whole thing though, just heard the noise, saw the last of the sodas fall and found him on the other side of the room. He is eating just fine, pigging out like normal. Everything seems to be okay, but I worry a lot. lol

When I snuggle with Lolli, she will be tooth purring and then right in the middle, do a really loud one. So I think he’s fine.

Actually, a grinding of the teeth is one sign of pain, which is why it has to be carefully distinguished from a tooth purr. I would watch him carefully and make sure he is comfortable tonght, eating, drinking and pooing normally. If he is still grinding his teeth in the morning, or if there is a dramatic change of any other kind, and especially if he is sitting in a meat loaf position by morning, you need to take him to the vet.

Sorry, I haven’t been on in a while. Bing has been acting very normal since then. I was curious though, when I wake up in the morning late, say 10, he is already in a meatloaf position and going to sleep. But around 6:30-8:30 he is making a ruckus running around his pen and chewing on his toys. This is normal, yes?

yep, they are most awake early mornings, and late evenings

He sounds just fine. Meatloaf is for sleeping and being lazy, too. Just to show off, bunnies are called “Crepuscular” which means they are active at dawn and dusk. Other times can be nap times. Glad he was just scared.

My rabbit does then long tooth purr with one louder crunch every now and then thing too. That’s not something to worry about. He’d be just grinding his teeth loudly if he was in pain. From what I’m told (haven’t heard it myself yet) it sounds quite different from tooth purring.

Just the other day, Sammy was standing up on a low shelf begging for a treat. He lost his balance and fell forward, head-butting the side of his pen. He immediately got back on his feet, with me looking horrified and trying to make sure he was okay, but what was his first thought even post fall? TREAT?! LOL

Does anyone have a video of tooth grinding in buns?  Or can explain how it’s different than teeth purring?  I’d like to know so I can keep an eye out for grinding and not think it’s purring!

Tooth grinding is much louder than a purr, and I believe occurs at times when you’re not petting them. It wouldn’t sound pleasant.

Hahah totally normal-they are up late and up early-and sleep most of the day. Nice for us who work or go to school-they’d just be asleep anyways
