Bindi went to the see my rabbit vet in her brand new clinic yesterday. I thought he might have another ear infection and I wanted her to check it out.

I was REALLY impressed with her clinic. Very high-tech, spacious and there is even a comfy room with a couch for people who want to stay if there animal needs to stay on iv or if the owner wants to stay at the clinic while the pet is in surgery.  I’ve never known of any othe clinics who allow that. They even took Bindi’s picture for his file. He looked great, not like a license photo, lol.

The good news is that his ears are fine. The bad news is that I got her to check his little heel calluses and she was concerned about the left one. It looks like it was starting to blister so she gave  me some cream to put on 2-3 x day. It’s called Thermaderm and it’s a corticosteroid antibacterial ointment. I don’t know what else to do with his cage. I’m going to buy him another rug. She thought it was strange when I described his flooring that he should have a heel like that.

Just have to mention, at the vet, we went on a tour and in one of the back rooms there was a box with 8 tiny kittens who were getting bottle fed. Very sad, they were in a house fire and their mom died  So the vet’s staff are feeding them round the clock. I want one!!! So tiny, I don’t think I’ve ever seen kittens so small!

I know you are relieved your vet finally got her clinic open.

I would suggest Palace Pet Beds – they really aren’t “beds” they are pieces of what they call vet bedding.  It’s very dense and lush.  Look in the histroy section of the website for more info.

As with any carpeting/flooring there is a concern if they eat this…Maxine has been tearing pieces of hers off but she’s not eating it…I don’t thinik they would even find this edible.

The disabled rabbits site also recommends this.

              That’s GREAT news puffy!!!

Rupert used to get almost calous is (I have no idea how to make calous plural)….on his broken foot.

Do you remember the flooring I put in? It’s water proof and tractionable over top of carpet? It’s sooo soft that his have gone away completely=so have Kahlua’s (shes a stomper). Everyone has perfect furry soft heels now-with no calous’s etc. I would highly highly recommend trying that

K&K- can you send me the link again? I liked the idea of that floor but my bf said he had no idea where to get it but I will look into it further. For now, I did buy him a rug that will cover almost his whole cage.

The sore on his foot really doesn’t seem to bother him though, at least not until I try to put the cream on it.

                  Yup-I discussed it here: https://binkybunny.com/FORUM/tabid/54/aff/4/aft/106881/afv/topic/afnp/132696/Default.aspx

I would really really recommend it-I put it over carpet and nobody has sore hocks/calouses or anything at all. Rupert and Kahlua were quite prone (nothing was ever open but you coudl still see them) and now just fuzzy butt feet.

You can buy it home depot or home hardware I’ve found in almost all stores like that since I bought it-comes in black or blue (here anyways). It’s near the outdoor carpet, rubber mat sections.

Thanks K&K! I’m gonna look into that asap after I work on paying a bit of my vet/bunny bills! I think I’ll stop by Home Depot tonight and see if they have some.

Despite everything I’m doing, Bindi’s feet seem to be getting worse. Now the right one looks like the left one and they are both bright, blood red colour. I just don’t know what to do, I’m very worried. His feet don’t seem to be sore, he’s running around like always.

I had no luck finding K&K’s flooring but I’m going to look again tonight at a few stores.
