So today to the park again. I had the 2 dog collars on Cotton for his stretchy leash. It got loosened up and I didn’t notice. He was hopping around having a grand time. Then the wind changed and he got a big dose of grilling odor and he panicked. I have seen him panic once outside but never since. Well he takes off and you know how a terrified rabbit just runs around he did his best with the leash and me too.
I quickly put the camera down and went with hiim taking in the leash as I did. HE ended up turned around and I thought oh noo it’s gona come off and i am gona lose him noooooo Hubby was flapping a stick around yelling at cotton to stop yeah great. I said no cut that out quick.
Well Cotton being turned around 1 of the collars came off he darted this n then that under the picnic bench. I reached out and managed to grab him up. HE came up into my arms and stayed there. I got him all calmed down in no time. Poor thing. Scared me.
so from now on I am using the string type harness they sell for bunnies. the jacket is what Cotton was wearing all that time ago when he was young and panicked I see that it could slip off from under his legs and oh ohh. I don’t think I am going to take him back unless I plan on carrying him. He feels safest that way
Hey I trimmed their nails too they did good. OH I forgot the anal glands well tomorrow they had enuf excitement for today. So did I.
I thank the one who created us for not losing Cotton. Those harness leash combo thing I am going to have to paste it I can put tight enuf not to come off those are the only kind I trust. Gosh can’t find a pic of it oh well…

Good grief! 0_o I think I would have to take a LONG sit down after a day like that and make a pot of tea. Glad to hear Boo is okay and you too!
Um, I’m sorry to have to ask, but, am I missing something BT? I see your siggy says home to Cotton and Ruby…what happened to Honey Bunny?
Oh my gosh, I would be so scared to take my bunny to a park and have them get loose! A lot, and I mean a LOT of rabbits are purposefully dumped at parks- people seem to think they can release them and they will be able to find food, shelter, etc. I would be afraid that they would not try to check for a microchip or check the paper to find the owner- and just assume that the bunny was dumped and keep it as a pet and think they are doing the good thing by “rescuing” it.
Aren’t you afraid that a dog will slip loose from its owner and bite or attack one of your bunnies?
Phew – that was close. Ah, BT? Your husband certainly has a way with rabbits doesn’t he!
That’s scary, BT.
I’m too afraid to take Sammy out because she hates being held for long. Maybe after her spay, like next month.
Been wondering about Honey Bunny too.
That must have been so scary!!! Ive only ever taken Fluff and Puff out once (This was before Foofoo or Bella came along
) and I was so scared the whole time! They both had those harnesess that go around the belly and neck but I was still scared the whole time……Im debating weather to take them out next summer or not….Defently not Foofoo shes to small and id be a reck bringing her out worrying she’ll squeeze out….and Bellas to jumpy, but mabey we’ll try Fluff and Puff again…
So glad Cottons still with you and didnt slip out!!
If your bun is too jumpy I would be scared to take her too. Cotton is high strung at times and whew. HE panicked like that once when the electricity popped off too. Ruby loves her outing she doesn’t panic I have never seen her panic. The dogs both me and the owners keep an eye out for them. People with little dogs pic them up if not I pick up Ruby. I know there are mean people out there too. The people I have met at the park are nice so no means ones has appeared yet. A lady came and wanted a pic of Ruby and I. Hehe.
Honey Bunny. When Ruby filed for seperation biting Cottons lip I had to put her in the bathroom and it got crazy. Fighting and such. Marking & HB spraying. Hubby took HB to his friends shop in a cage where he hangs out with his friend there. Once things got settled I asked hubby to bring HB back. Hubby told me a lady was in love with HB and she has him now.
He is such a nice rabbit he is.
I had a vet appmnt for HB however when all this happened and he was at the shop I cancelled it til he came back. The lady that has him now said she took him to the vet and he had bordatello and not ec now she says he has ec I don’t know the truth of all that. He has a cataract now she said.
She knows rabbits and has some herself. She also does rescues and that is the lady who took my friends rabbit when they had to move. The gray rex. She has a good home now not stuck outside. She has an indoor home I am so glad for that. I dreaded the summers out doors for that rex. My friend has 10 kids homeschooled and has her hands full. So I think this was best for the rex to have an indoor home of her own. The rex stayed 1 nite at the rescue lady’s house and a friend who has rabbits came to pick her up the next day she had been looking for a rex.
Thanks for filling us in. I know it was always possible that Honey Bun was going to someone else, but last time you mentioned him you just loved him, so it seemed he was staying. But your space was never well set up for 3, so it looks like it’s all working out well for everyone.
“Ruby filed for separation” LOL!!!!
Any chance of them rebonding? Cotton was so crazy about her. It’s so odd that she acted out – I could see the other way around. Well, better not to push it and have more harm come to either one of them. They’re small and manageable, and seem to do fine with your alternating attention to each. Sounds like a nice park, too.
Well Cotton had started peeing outside his litterbox and then started chasing Ruby from it then twice I came home he had pulled her hair out. I caught him humping her. She retaliated by biting him a good one.
I doubt I will try to rebond them. I feel they are much safer apart. Cotton started to act up toward Ruby when I started giving her one on one attention. And when I petted them both at the same time He would get mad and run off when he saw me petting Ruby too.
I think the jealousy is going to prevent a good bond. His bottom lip still hasn’t healed up yet. I was told to call the vet tomorrow his Dr. is out on Mondays.
Of course there are 2 other rabbit savy vets at their office if an emergency would come up.
Two rabbits are easiest for me to handle too. I can give them both quality time with a 3rd it was hard. I really did like HB. Since all that started up hubby said I think this is too much for you to handle.
I am sorry to hear HB has gone, but I am glad he is somewhere that he will get care for his illnesses. It must have been hard for you to do, but thanks for finding him a good home.
Wow, I can only relate to your bonding issues with Ruby and Boo in that Mimzy and Fiver may never learn to get along together well enough for me to bunk all three in one place.
Last night, Mimzy was on the bed after his medicine dose for two hours and you could practically see steam coming out of Fiver’s ears. 0_o He was tossing his toys around and chewing his food real loud so I’d turn around and look at him…then he’d shoot this absolutely angelic look at me as if to say, “See? I’M the cute one! Don’t you want to play with me??”
Geez…I think I need about ten clones of myself to go around for everybody who wants me to do something for them…lolz. ~_~
Poor Fiver. HE sounds funny. Isn’t it something that buns being so quiet verbally can express themselves so well. iI always amazes me what they can say through their actions.
When hubby finally sold the washer and dryer the guy came to pick it up. …. I was sooo embarrassed for behind the washer was a huge bunny sized nest of hair that had floated and lodged itself behind the washer. I was stunned it was sooo big. HE did shed a lot.
It was difficult with them fighting and spraying etc. I just didn’t have enuf room. Very unfortunate that Ruby and Cotton split up. I didn’t want to leave one in the bathrub indefinitely. They could get out and have a big fight and I wouldn’t be home or something cause Ruby was trying to jump out.
I keep in touch with the lady who had HB from time to time. I dont’ know she is telling me he doesn’t have e.c. the test came back negative then a month later she says he does so I dont’ truly know what is with that. I think she is playing with me on that issue. Well as long as he is well cared for I can’t really be upset about that.
Honestly though if he has e.c. mine would have gotten it too. when I was trying to bond all 3. So I think she is just playing with me about that.
I had made him a vet appmnt due to his front legs being pigeontoed and I wanted to know if it was a birth defect or he had broken a right leg. The right was turned in more than the left. But we never got to it cause Hubby took him away to the shop.
Any offers to take another rabbit in is a big NOOOOOO WAAAAY from me.
I called the vet yesterday and she said go ahead and put some neosporin on Cottons lip that shoudl be fine even if he licks some off. It is healing just so slow. Probably the location. His scab gets long and goes to his chin as it keeps growing with the hair. It got hung up once and came off but is growing back and it looks like the lip IS healing Taking long enuf. I really think it will heal this month hopefully it will be all gone.
I took Franklin outside once on one of those rabbit rope type harnesses. I triple checked to make sure it was adjusted right and locked. Nevertheless, Frank got scared by something, bolted, and got out of the harness. I was freaked too and was (thank goodness) able to catch her. I clutched her tight and didn’t let go until I got her inside! She was still panicked though and scratched me a ton. Plus I had sundress on. I still have permanent scars! I’ve never taken her outside since.
OH my gosh how frightening. Yes our high strung buns like these 2 I wouldn’t take franklyn out again either nor am I taking Cotton except to hold him and go to the dock. Otherwise forget it. That is so scary FRanklyn even got loose of the harness. So glad you were able to capture him up. No Cotton didn’t scratch me he recognized me once I grabbed him up and calmed right down.
Stilll to close for my taste to close to losing him. PHew.
That little fellow means the world to me as I am sure your buns do too.
