After my Blackberry [big silver martin boy] gets neutered i plan on introducing him to Bambi [spayed ND female]. What is the best way to introduce them? Bambi is very territorial [getting better] and has the little ND attitude. Blackberry is lazy but he is pretty forceful when he wants something [at this point, infact, its a gf haha]. I am hoping after his neutering that will go away. Never neutered a bunny before so i have no clue what changes and what not. I do have an Xpen but right now its Bambis house….Both have harnesses and leads but im not sure if thats a good introduction…Bambi wants to run and Blackberry wants to eat haha.

Any tips would be apprecieated…I wont be neutering Blackberry until i can get the money [a few weeks from now hopefully]….So they wont be seeing each other anytime soon….

It is best to find a neutral place that they can meet.  ESPECIALLY since Bambi is territorial.  She would most likely get aggressive in any territory she considered hers.

Check out our bonding page https://binkybunny.com/BUNNYINFO/Bon…fault.aspx for information about the process.

Here are some other great bonding links!

Bonding is very tricky because each pair (or more) really have their own unique issues.  So though you can start with some basic tricks of the trade, like starting neutral, you will have to progress based on how your own pair react and no two pair are the same.

Just keep us updated and we’ll try to walk you through.

So true-sometimes you can get the ‘insta-bond’ where they just fall in love and no work involved-and sometimes it’s months of bonding exercises, frustations and exercises to finally get to your goal of a loving twosome.
It’s excellent to document your bonding experiences here-so others can give you support and ideas! If you can videotape or take pictures while you do the bonding and post here-that helps too!

I don’t think that size really plays much of a part in the bonding process – the only thing is that if she is trying to display dominance (which she might with that ND attitude) she probably won’t be able to get up over his bum and she may mount his head instead. That happened when I introduced one of my smaller bunnies to a larger bunny. You don’t want to allow her to do that because if he gets angry and bites, he will end up biting a very sensitive area – which could result in a pretty bad injury.

Good luck – I’m looking forward to hearing how their first introduction goes!
