Hey all!  Happy Sunday.  I wanted to see if anyone knew of a rabbit specialist or very good rabbit vet in the So Cal area.  Were in Long Beach.  We currently have a vet but to be honest they really suck and have poor customer service.  Any Help is appreciated!

        Cheers!

Here in the UK finding a rabbit savvy vet combined with a fair priced vet has been a real headache because of recent events many vets will not accept new customers where as others are charging extortionate amounts, listed as rabbit savvy but have not got much experience with rabbits or there rabbit vets have retired.

Rabbits are at high risk because they need a very specific dose and if the dose isn’t correct then it could be fatal if a rabbit gets a dog or cat dose. This has been another barrier added.

It used to be that there was several animal charities that would offer free or reduced spaying/neutering services for rabbits but these charity’s are no longer dealing with rabbits. There used to be private vets that had very good reasonable rates just before the pandemic but sadly those days are gone now. Prices have gone up to the point where its getting silly.

I’m assuming in the U.S it would be easier to find a rabbit savvy fair priced vet but from reading other peoples experiences over the pond it would seem like the U.S has the same issue as the UK.

A bit far from Long Beach, but I had a good experience with Dr. Kelly at VCA Acacia in Escondido.

The Bunny Bunch (a LA based rescue) has a list of recommended vets by county and there are a few listed in Long Beach:
