I rent in a carpeted apartment and my little love is a digger and a puller. She gets an hour in the morning and 3-4 when I get home outside her pen, and even with all the toys in the world she still loves to dig. I know it’s in her nature and I’m not trying to stop her…I’m just looking for a rug that will make it safe for her to go into Gremlinnmode.

Does anyone have any recommendations for the best rug for rabbits? And where to get them?

I’ve noticed when I bring my bun outside for at least an hour he doesn’t dig most the day, I just bring him out again in the evening and he stopped digging. but I’m subscribing to this bc once winter is here and he can’t go out as much I know he will start digging again!

I don’t know if any rug will be safe for a chewer! How about hay or dried grass mats? I buy them on amazon and they love them.

For digging you could always try a box filled with sand or soil that she can dig in I also saw someone who filled a box with plastic ball pit balls for digging (a tidier alternative I imagine!), which I want to do, but I’m waiting until my two are bonded before buying them new toys so they don’t get territorial

Another great option is a cardboard box filled with shredded paper Thor loves to dig, but when we gave her a sand dig pit it was a huuuuge disaster of a mess (guess she loves digging TOO much). The shredded paper box has been a big hit, and it’s safe if they chew some of it.

Also, I know nobody has them anymore, but many people say their rabbits love digging at phone books. You could try something like that too!

I didn’t get to answer this earlier, but you might try sisal. I have a rug from IKEA (the specific model name is OSTED – I crave to understand why IKEA always capitalizes their model names) which I laid down for their play area. Mine is 7’7″ x 2’10”, but you can get other sizes. My own two buns, finding their chewing needs mainly satisfied by their hay, don’t chew on the rug much if at all, but you could try this rug and see how well it works. Hopefully it’d last a while because I paid $40 for mine.
