My rabbit’s name is Leigh, and she’s a Flemish giant, and I want to get her a friend. Since she’s a Flemish, she’s obviously quite large, so I want to know the best breed of bunny to get her as a friend. I can’t have another Flemish, as they’re a bit too big to have two of inside the house. So if I got a mini lop, or a Netherland dwarf, would they be too small for Leigh? What breed would be best? Do any Australian owners know any good breeders in NSW? Thank you!

Size doesn’t matter to bunnies Although a flemish giant with a nethie would be a comical sight! And a dwarf bun might struggle to reciprocate grooming? I don’t know. Bladesmith on here has a really adorable pair – Clover and Dawn. Dawn is a nethie and Clover is a Chinchilla breed. I’m not sure how big she is but the difference between them is pretty spectacular!

One thing to keep in mind is a dwarf would obviously have different dietary requirements – they’d require less pellets and veggies than a giant but I’m sure you could work around that.

During bonding you’d have to be extra cautious. You should always be on guard during bonding sessions anyway so that if a fight occurs, you can break it up before it starts but I also wonder if a giant could hurt a dwarf if trying to hump?
