Again, I apologize for asking sooo many questions all the time (but it’s how I learn)!

I’d like to know if there is any particular book about rabbits/bunnies as house rabbits/pets that is most recommended?  I know there are sometimes books that are "out there" on a subject matter but that don’t necessarily reflect the most accurate and up to date information.

Who knows…maybe if you steer me in the right direction of a good book, I’ll keep my nose in it long enough to give you guys a breather from answering all my many questions!

I like "Rabbit Health in the 21st Century" by Kathy Smith – this is on Amazon but if you google it there are rescue groups that sell it and they profit from it.

House Rabbit Handbook by Marinell Harriman is a classic but it may evenbe a bit dated – been awhile since I’ve looked at it – dated at least for housing ideas.

Rabbits for Dummies is surprisingly pretty good – except they do talk about breeding but not in depth – I guess that’s what the publisher wanted.

I love "Stories Rabbits Tell:" by Susan Davis and Margo DeMello – it’s not a care book and some parts are very hard to take but they wanted to tell all rabbit’s stories.

i have a problem with many of the books that are out.  since i have a four-year-old, we got out children’s level care books before we got Meadow and read them… but they are not informative at all.  Michael really just liked looking at the pics of the bunnies.

i read the Dummies book and i really liked it.  i didn’t see much that was not correct (as i understand it).  that’s a book i would probably purchase for my bookshelf if i could ever find it (i’m not a big online shopper.)

Stories Rabbits Tell… i have that in my house right now.  i got it out at the library and it has some interesting things in it.  it’s a bit dry (at least for me) to read cover to cover… but i’ve been flipping thru it for a few weeks now.

most every other book i have read (and i’ve read many) has been pretty outdated.  they’re not all bad, but take the info with a grain of salt.  i think one of the BinkyBunny folks should write a book!  i’d buy it!

For our pet therapy program (grades 1-8), I got the book The Simple Guide  to Rabbits by Bobbye Land.  It had lots of pictures, which was great for the little ones and lots of great info for the big kids.  The ASPCA used to publish books for kids on pet care.  I have the ones for Cats and for dogs–I used to run a grant sponsored humane education program.  It had awesome information, plenty of pictures, and was very kid friendly.  I’m not sure if they publish a book for rabbits, but I’d contact the ASPCA to find out.  Those books were an awesome find!  When I had grades 4-6, I had them make "care manuals" for the 1-3 class.  I provided info from house rabbit, binky, and other websites and then they made pictures and put it in their words.  It might be fun for you to work on that as a project w/ your kid.  You could use pics of your own bun to review care and responsibilities.  Depending on your kids age, I’d keep it limited to 1-2 sentences per page & pic.

that before and it is pretty informative.

                  I have three favorites.
                  1. Rabbit Health in the 21st Century – The one that Sarita recommended
                  2. The House Rabbit Handbook by Marinell Harriman
                  2. Why does my Rabbit…? by Anne McBride (extremely helpful in learning about rabbit behavior)

I rescue bunnies and everytime I adopt one out, I always give them a copy of Rabbits for Dummies. I SWEAR BY IT. It’s my bible when it comes to Sophie. It’s a great quick reference and good to refresh yourself with information from training to bonding.
