Hi there! I need to know a good type of bedding for my bunnies? Bedding as in literal bedding, not litter

My bunnies are both beginning to get sore hocks (you only notice if you pull hair back on the feet, its the size of a tiny candy ball.)

I was wondering what could be good for their houses? Until we move into our own house, we are limited on what they can free roam around in. I use fleece, but maybe I need to stack more fleece on top of each other or get a cat bed??

We are also going to get something for their free roam as our whole house is wooden flooring.

Any tips on helping prevent it?

Cat beds are good, grass mats, I also use a folded up blanket.

Bunnies tend to get callouses on their feet as they age. Sore hocks are different though. More red and inflamed, compared with thickened callouses. Heavier breeds are also more susceptible. I’d be surprised at sore hocks from fleece. It sounds as if the wooden floors are giving them problems. I’d get thick runners and area rugs to cover the wood floor.

A dog bed or cat bed (depending on how large your bunny is. To be 100% comfortable, a dog bed better suits my large mini lop.), is an awesome idea. We got one for my rabbits, we just found a super plush large, flat, dog bed at one of the pet stores and my mini lop loves it. Because it’s wintertime now, (sometimes they’re locked in the cage, but when we are home they are in a bunny proof room.) I often open the door and find him sleeping all cuddled up on the dog bed, with the space heater on. So cute to watch.

Memory foam bath mats are good for sore hocks. Like any new bedding or flooring, monitor to make sure they are not chewing it.

I like the memory foam bath mat idea. With my 2 pairs, I have to have different flooring setups for each pair. Their chewing and peeing habits dictate the flooring options… fuzzy little so-and-so’s… Avalon and Lancelot have half carpet half fleece. But they tear up the carpet in the corners so I have to block their access to the corners. They chew towels. Guin and Lancelot have some fleece, more towel, and half carpet. Guin likes to pee on fleece. Lancelot tears up the carpet if I don’t let him have his half-of-the-house free run at night.

                    Thanks guys!

I was thinking of something like what you all suggested, I just didn’t want something bad happening, like chewing. I know to watch but I can’t watch 24/7 ;P

You can use fleece, hay, and I heard you could use sawdust too.
