Powder is fine ON the bed, but this morning he lost his under the bed privileges – he chewed a hole in the box springs, jumped inside and refused to come out. He would come to the hole and look at me like, then hop away like “ha ha, can’t get me here!”. He woke me up doing this, so I had to get up with like 30 seconds awake, take the entire bed apart, remove the mattress, lift up the box spring and pull him out since the bed isn’t tall enough to crawl under. 6 months sleeping under the bed, he just decided to be a bad bunny about it. Then he preceded to spend 20 minutes running from me, when I was trying to evict him from my bedroom… he just wants to see how far my patience lasts today I swear lol he’s lucky he is cute

My bed is short, he can just barely stand up under it (6lb bunny) . What would be the best things to use to block it off? Boxes are too tall and NIC panels he’d grab and knock over if they weren’t secured to the bed frame. What do you guys use? Or suggest. He’s an expert pusher and for something to be heavy enough, it has to weigh a few lbs or he just shoves it out of the way.

You could either place cement bricks around the edges of the bed, or I would just attach NIC panels to the frame, that way you know he can’t push it! Otherwise, you could staple or attach some hardware cloth to the underside of the boxspring – then he could still go under, but wouldn’t be able to damage anything.

Hardware cloth looks like it might be the best bet… I actually didn’t know what that was so had to look it up lol would it be chew proof? Couldn’t really get a detailed look at it from the online pictures of the rolls.

I used it to make rat cages when I was younger, and they never damaged it. It is also what you use on outdoor pens and cages for rabbits, so I imagine it is safe.

They sell it at most hardware stores, and it comes in different size squares – so you could get really small squares so that he couldn’t get any grab on it!

Cool, thanks though I do have to say he was adorable peeking his head out and then running away… but springs are sharp and I don’t want him hurting himself lol

just be careful with the edges of the hardware cloth- they can be sharp once they are trimmed. So maybe after you staple it on- duct tape over the sharp edges or add some type of border. You could staple a wide ribbon over it- and that would be pretty- but looks are probably not important since it is under the bed and hardware cloth is already not elegant but effective.

cubes for sure-they are easy and totally non permanent and you can get them in white gray and black to suit your fashion needs I don’t know that I’d go with the cloth as Katnip said it could be sharp and I think cubes would be easier to work with.

I’ve tried hardware cloth before and it is very sharp. I cut myself easily on the trimmed edges of the cloth so I wouldn’t suggest using it. Now I am using NIC grids, I zip tied them together to wrap around the bottom of bed and then zip tied some of them to the legs of the rails and through some of the bolt holes in the rails so they wouldnt move around.
