Best $5 I’ve spent so far

So besides all the “free toys” (i.e. my furniture), Smudge’s favorite thing in the whole world is his pink cat house. It’s just this cheapo thing I got a kmart, made of the same material as is used on storage boxes but much thinner and porous for air. It’s a pop open cube house with big holes on all three sides.

Now I imagine other people have probably already stumbled upon this item, but the best part is the way Smudge will play with it. He likes to flip it around sometimes putting a hole on top so he can look out through there (he always reminds me of one of the lost boys from Peter Pan then) and sometimes he will change it so only two holes are out and one is on the ground.

I just realized this is only explainable via pictures. This is Smudge’s pink box. In order of events you’ll see happy, relaxed rabbit listening to me thinking I’m walking by, then rabbit notices the intruder, then I get the butt. That’s when I know I have annoyed the bunny…..

I’ve been wanting to get one of those cat cubes for Simba, but it’s always around $10+ whenever I see it so I’ve been sticking to the “free” boxes from the $$$ spent on purchased pet supplies lol

That is a cute cube, also a good deal at $5. Toys can get expensive. It’s why mine has a bunch of cardboard boxes. Unfortunately it makes him look like a hobo lol.

They are made of nylon I think…I found them at walmart for around 8 but not 5! Good deal! I hadn’t tried it yet cuz I didn’t know if Albert would like the sound it makes when he walks on it…but maybe I’ll try it!

Thanks all, I think he’s pretty damn cute but non-rabbit lovers can’t get past the pink/red eyes.

MijOok- he’s had it for most of the time I’ve had him, so we’re like two weeks in and no chewing of it so far. He’s far more interested in digging in, flipping, or going to sleep in the box. Btw, it is also the place he never, ever, ever leaves trace mistakes behind….. ah Bunny so you CAN control it!

Who knows sleepy, Smudge isn’t old enough to be a true brat yet, he’s only just entering his teenage period, so I may very well see the destruction of the box. Right now he has lots of digging cloths in there that he really likes (especially an old scarf of mine…)It’s made of some synthetic, cheap cloth, I can look tomorrow at the tag.

Oh man, this is bad, this is worse than I have been with any other animal. He just provides so much entertainment and love. Best bad decision I ever made!

I almost picked up one of those, (at walmart ugh) but it was almost $8 and I was already getting the tube.. and hubby was waiting outside thinking I was getting advil…. so I just got the one… might have to look at amazon now…

My Henry looks like a homeless boy too with his cardboard boxes. But yer, for 5 bucks – bargain!
Manic – Advil? I’ll keep that in mind when I next need to sneak something by the hubby for the bunny, ha ha hah!

Your hobo comment made me laugh so hard!!  It make me think of Ziggy’s ghetto toys.  I made a dig box by attaching 3 paper boxes together and cut holes to connect them.  He doesn’t seem to like anything I buy at the store.  So if he finds something on the floor that he likes to play with, it’s pretty much his.

Hahaha totally. The only small store-bought toy he likes are those willow tree bark balls. And the kitty cube. Otherwise it’s random stuff that I find or repurpose. Like today I wrapped thicker sisal rope around a 1′ by 1.5′ box I had found and gotten for a dollar. This is an attempt to give him both better perches and discourage his need for chewing carpet. I placed a thin piece of wood wrapped and sewn in corduroy fabric I found in the free bin at the thrift store on top of the box so he can have his choice of picking at the sisal or the corduroy…. I’ll let you all know if it works. Right now he’s mad that I shooed him away when I was cutting the rope so he’s pretending he’s wholly uninterested in the entire thing . Rabbits and cats are hilarious, dogs just pout, but this boy actually gets mad and completely ignores me for a couple of hours.

Aww. I have to try and find one of those for my bunny! I got her a $5 fold out cat tunnel from Kmart and she goes in and out of it like a thousand times a day haha. It also has holes to peek through.

It’s called the Kitty Play Cube, but I couldn’t find anymore in stock at my local store or online. He doesn’t seem to be chewing it though so I might have to get him this cave house too even though it’s $10….
