The dosage amount on the Bene-Bac powder package says to give 1-5 lb. animals 1 teaspoon every other day. Is this the right amount? Should I give it every day instead of every other?

Unsure what probiotic Wick’s vet gives me, but instructions wise, Wick’s vet was pretty carefree. I just “sprinkle some” on a wet veggie leaf twice a day, every day.

I don’t think having it every day would do harm, as Wick has had it every day for…. A long time. It’s not inherently harmful to my knowledge, or I feel Wick’s vet would have given me a warning of some kind.

Thanks Wick . I mixed it in some water and gave it to her. She seems fine so I’ll give her another dose tomorrow. Could you tell right away that it helped Wick or did it take more than a few days?

It was always preventative for Wick. Each time he was on antibiotics, he got probiotic. He’s been on some antibiotic for at least 1/3 of his life at this point, and he only got an upset tummy from one specific antibiotic, called flagyl. I think the track record for probiotic being effective pretty immediately is good.

I may be oversimplifying it, but essentially the probiotic helps replenish the gut bacteria in your rabbits stomach so it’s easier to digest food. Once your rabbit consumes it, it’ll work it’s way down to the gut and help. It could take a few doses to build up a good foundation perhaps!
